@dud56063 жыл бұрын
@@FabledGentleman I mean its not like he engaged any of them in combat. The only replicant he really fought was Leon and he absolutely wrecked Deckard and wouldve killed him if not for Rachel. I like the theory of him being one but its not as clear cut as some people make it out to be. Theres definitely some room for interpetation there.

@@dud5606 lol. Seriously? You totally forgot about the fight against pris? who tries to kill him for dare life? Not to mention Zhora who tries to strangle him, but fails to do so. Replicants are so strong, they can run through brick walls, a normal human being is like an insect in comparison when it comes to strength. I guess this is why so many people are confused, all the evidence is right there, in the movies. But people just refuse to see it :D. This is also why the movie works so good. And yes, deckard is a nexus 7, just like rachel. Very few units are known to exist. Deckard and Rachel made a baby, it is insanely unlikely a human being and a nexus 7 could mate, but two nexus 7's could. And they did. This was an experimental unit designed for this purpose, and they were designed to not know they were replicants, this was the whole point. But after the the death of Tyrell, and then the blackout, all evidence and records of this unit disappeared. In 2049 it is revealed that the wood horse had been in the most radioactive place known, Las Vegas. And this was the perfect place for a replicant to hide, as few would search there, and the radiation wouldn't kill a replicant, as they are unaffected.

It was a nice touch showing how Agent K overcame Sapper Morton pretty easily. He's a newer and more advanced model, so even though Morton is physically quite a bit larger, K is actually far tougher and stronger. And although K is from a later generation of replicant, more precisely controlled in its manufacture, and made to have less independence and free will, he still breaks free in the end and goes his own way.
@peoplez1293 жыл бұрын
Makes one wonder how they made him tougher, unless he's physically augmented somehow. Also makes one wonder about his shelf life....the light that burns twice as bright burns half as long. So he may have been advanced, but there has to be some kind of trade off, such as an extremely reduced longevity. So his model might not even survive all that long even if it did go rogue, there would be some kind of failure. Given how advanced he was I'd also assume he'd need a special diet. You see him eating rice and noodles, but there's no way that's enough. He would need an extreme amount of supplements to keep his strength up and fuel his abilities overall. Since he was designed to hunt other replicants exclusively, he would have to have quite a few augments. We see that even though he gets his head bashed through a wall, he's relatively fine, even though his head should have been crushed or at least fractured severely. Yet he needs no medical attention other than stitching up wounds. Makes one wonder exactly how human he actually is inside, his entire bone structure could be made out of something other than calcium, or 3D printed in such a way that it's stronger, along with healing quicker. I just don't see them making his bone structure stronger any other way. I don't think it would be possible to make a replicant soo advanced, that can also eat normal food without losing some of their abilities.
@peoplez1293 жыл бұрын
@@swpolitical Sapper would have run if he could, but the only reason he was able to hide as a human is because of the black out. Running now would have been futile, there would be no place he could go to pose as a human. Even if he want into hiding, he wouldn't have been able to do anything but live in the sewers. Fun Fact: This scene was to appear at the start of the first Blade Runner. You see Deckard sitting in a chair just like Gossling waiting for the farmer to come home. It’s stated that he was waiting for a couple of hours before he arrived. The similarities end there. The farmer walks in, completely ignoring Deckard. Washes up, and as he walks into the living room, Deckard shoots him. He then walks over to the corpse snd tears it’s jaw right off, pulls out a scanner, and it zooms into a very small barcode on the inner side of its jaw and scans it where a picture of the farmer shows up, informs you what he really is or was, and Deckard enters “target retired”, and walks out. Supposedly there was to be no dialogue and then they would start with LOS ANGELES NOVEMBER 2019. I believe the concept art can be found on KZbin or on a webpage.

0:43 - Are you Sapper Morton? Civic number NK68514? - I’m a farmer. That was just perfect. Summarizes the entire movie in just one line of dialogue. I love that K chose to use the civic number, trying to simplify Sapper as just a number. His response is just brilliant, no explanation or contradiction, just who he is.

@@jonathanmora8208 Is the Godfather I and II too old? Is 2001: A Space Odyssey too old? The first Star Wars? The original Blade Runner aged extremely gracefully. I can't give Dave Bautista enough praise as Sapper Morton. It was a very brief role but he took his part very seriously and proved his chops if you ask me. I loved this movie and the little short films they released both anime and live action and I really think it's important to watch the first blade runner and the 2022 blackout anime and the short film that shows the events that leads up to K finding Sapper(Dave Bautista's character). It shows how rough life is in this world and just adds a lot of depth to the movie.

Even though it's two supremely powerful replicants fighting, the simplicity of the shots, from the framing, the sound design, everything about this is understated - yet it's all the more powerful for it. You can definitely tell the tonal shift from watching the 3 short films leading into this movie...I'm not complaining, I love seeing different directors point of view on things...It kind of shows me how different everyone views the world... Sapper in the short film had an awkward interpersonal relationship with people, like he approached everyone like a friend more than a acquaintance and he clearly had unresolved trauma... Sapper in this film is a much more relaxed, confidant, almost unafraid individual I think what makes this film so great is that it leaves a lot of things open for audience speculation... Like why's the same character different in 2 versions of the story As a bonus, you get to see how 2 artists interperate a character, world, and story.

What I keep coming back to about this scene is how much it accomplishes in the story without telling you almost anything. The world is a wasteland. We farm maggots to eat. He’s a killer android, and K is a stronger killer android. They are both very composed but also both capable of feeling. K had never tasted garlic. Sapper experiences a form of ptsd. Even the set dressing and the voice acting tell you things. K is used to work in the city. Sapper rarely speaks out loud, which makes his voice metallic and soft. K is half bored by his job, but is very good at it. So much being pushed forward in 5 minutes.

Bautista was perfect for this role. The character needed to be in his 60s, and there was a moment when they almost passed on him because he was too young. They eventually went with him after the director was satisfied that the aging makeup was good enough for the movie, but there was a chance that Sapper Morton would have been played by an actor in his 60s. I can't imagine this fight scene looking as good with anyone less intimidating as Bautista.

Batista will turn heads one day, the guy is SO GOOD!! Imagine being scene as just some wrestler turned action super hero… and then holding your own against one of hollywoods most talented and prestigious actors in a one on one scene. I mean, this was just so good on so many levels. Dave’s got range. He understands who Sapper is, and it’s not so much the rage in him that sets him off, but the frustration and sadness… the overwhelming sadness knowing that he’s failed Rachel, and this is ostensibly his final stand. It’s an emotional scene once you understand the context, and Dave plays it too perfection. He’s come a loooong way from “being sold out by Evolution.”
