RIP Vangelis. This is the first piece I heard after news of his death. May he meet the origin of his music eternal.

This video and the video "Memories of green" mean a lot to me. I heard them a lot in a time long ago, when everything seemed to go bad for me. These tunes gave me a lot of comfort and everytime i come back i get a lot of hope from your tunes. Because they remind me of the fact that there's a lot of beauty in this world. Thanks a lot for this :)

you know, i've ben listening to the original in my car all week. As I sat in traffic with the rain lashing down I thought to myself someone on YT has done a version...I hope it's good. Not only is this good, it totally encapsulates or transfers the thought Vangelis would have had . It is superbly played. The emotion is there , the entire meaning of this can be lost in translation but you have done it perfectly, thankyou:) Mick

Very impressive. Well done! It's not in the movie. It's on the disk called "BR 25", all of it composed by Vangelis in 2007, rather as a tribute to the movie and included in the 3 CD Trilogy set.

I recorded it on a Yamaha P-155 and recorded it in a free program called Audacity, using analog audio cables (white/red, L+R) running from the back of the P-155 to the input port on my computer.

Amazing. Dynamics on point exactly like Vangelis. Interested to know how you got the reverb effect?
@AnotherSchmoe4 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the comment! So I recorded this almost ten years ago (wow!), and at this point I'm not entirely sure what I did for reverb, but I can give you an idea. I was initially recording videos on this piano (the Yamaha P-155) using only the onboard audio and effects (reverb, chorus etc.). At some point around this time I switched to a different method of recording audio directly from the P-155, but now completely dry and without any reverb or effects whatsoever. After this was done I would add reverb in a free program called Audacity using a plugin called DX Reverb Light which I ended up favoring over the P-155 reverb. I also would have used a flange effect in Audacity if this was recorded that way. Sorry I couldn't just tell you with 100% certainty, but it was for sure one of the two. I sold the P-155 a couple of years after I recorded this (was moving). I currently have a Casio Privia PX-750 which is not bad overall but I feel that it's slightly lower quality than the P-155. I still have the Casio but I've since upgraded to a Kawai VPC-1. The VPC-1 is a very nice, quality keyboard (the best I've owned by a wide margin) but has absolutely no sound or features so I use it in tandem with Pianoteq software on my laptop. Have a good one, and thanks for stopping by!

I recorded this almost ten years ago and have not played it in almost as long. I recommend sheet music, it's worth learning and isn't all that difficult to pick up (I learned for free online). It just takes a little time like anything else. I don't use Synthesia at all, sorry.
