That technique WORKS!! I will say that 2 hand grip needs to be 1 up, 1 down. There's an easy slap release we use in FMA pulling an attackers grabbing hand from the thumbs side (or slapping it off). 1 up, 1 down (baseball bat grip) will give you more ctrl of the blade hand or crush it with the 2nd forearm. That and most single hand grip of the blade hand can be cleared by a circle of the wrist or what we call palisut.

This is a pretty weird but simple technique. I have seen it being done in an old Tony Lopez sambo video. He did it standing, as a last ditch counter to a hip throw. As your feel yourself being lifted, use your free hand and come over his shoulder, grab neck, chin, or ear. Basically as your thrown you pull and twist his neck, pull your opponent over your shoulder.

As someone from a traditional Koryu background, it' looks interesting, I'm not saying it doesn't work. But from my background I'd say the shortest answer is the best, and that's not the shortest answer by a long shot. This us a typical BJJ answer, not a battlefield combat for your life answer.
@KnightJiuJitsu
@KnightJiuJitsu 6 жыл бұрын
So what would the “battlefield combat for your life shortest answer” be?
@infozencentre
@infozencentre 6 жыл бұрын
@@KnightJiuJitsu, thank you for you polite reply. I would have thought it obvious, no offence intended. But let's break it down. In a scenario like this to have gotten tk the ground with a knife man, you've already been stabbed, I guarantee that, your bleeding, possibly in pain and fighting for life. You need to work on killing the guy before he finishes you. He's brought a knife to the fight, you have to fight with the desperation that that's what he want to do, kill you. So you have to try kill him, or deliver the kind of damage that will at least render unconscious. Not control him. If your on the floor with a knife it's past that. In martial sports you forget easily because you don't focus here, that there are two guaranteed kill or maim points on the human body regardless of how big or built the other guy is. You have to go straight and quick for those. That means crushing his tracea or his testicles. That's it, and in the position you show there's certainly a chance of doing that. No fancy XYZ goshinjutsu manipulation, just take out the two vital points. I know you want to promote your sport and say, heh we taught you something like this, so do it with a knife guy, but outside in life and death it's not a thing to rely on. A weapon is a force multiplier and you at a huge disadvantage if you find yourself in a fight without one, so you have to treat the situation as what it is, you're f...ked, so get there first. Good luck with the channel. I have 35 years experience in Koryu bujutsu, if you ever want to do something together let me know.
@KnightJiuJitsu

Jizoan Zendo - I see where the confusion is: the premise behind the Bladed grappling concept is that the fight had reached the ground grappling area before the other man had an opportunity to deploy a knife, so there was no knowledge of the presence of the knife. If that’s the case, and the knife comes out after the fight is on the ground, you have to react and control accordingly to minimize his ability to stab or cut you. I wouldn’t intentionally try to take a knife wielding person into a ground grappling situation. That isn’t the premise. But that’s not clear in this particular video, so I understand the confusion. As for fighting with desperation and attacking to maim or kill, that’s all well and good, but without a dominant position established from which to fight, attacking vital points is unreliable. And if you disregard the control of the knife to try to attack his trachea or testicles from this particular position, you’re going to get stabbed. Testicle attacks are typically ineffective in actual fights, and throat strikes are unreliable. Sure these things hurt in practice or non-stressful situations, but they are extremely unreliable in actual violent encounters. And they are extremely difficult to train realistically because you would run out of training partners.
@infozencentre
@infozencentre 6 жыл бұрын
@@KnightJiuJitsu there is no confusion. OK let's extrapolate that the knife was introduced late in the fight - though it seems unlikely someone brings a force multiplier to a fight and doesn't use it from get go. OK so I'll spell it out. Reach down into his groin and pop a testicle. That's it game over. That causes instant unconsciousness. Instant. We don't have to test that in training it's medically known. Just put your hand around the plum and pop it. Look you can hang on all sorts of buts, oh but suddenly he was on drugs too etc. I point out also that often people who love thier martial art will blow things out in their minds. It not nessesary. You teach an enjoyable martial sport, some applications might be useful in certain self defence situations, knowing something is better than knowing nothing, but when you really drift over to combat and survival, accept the limits of technique and the need to emphasise rugged answers. Yes knee him once in the groin might not work, knee him repeatedly like your life depends on it because ut does and you'll get a contact, that gives you the pause to run or kill. And the trachea is protected by cartilage and breaks like a dorito, ask an emergency specialist, he's dying if you crush that with your fingers, even if he's built like brick shit house. No you can't rest on partners, but I'm from a tradition that has been tested in war, what we teach works, because it's mbeen through the ultimate test. I'm not trying to go mine's better than yours, just straight line to a point beats a circle. In application a person has to think like that.
@KnightJiuJitsu
@KnightJiuJitsu 6 жыл бұрын
Jizoan Zendo - This is a lot clearer. “Popping a testicle” and “the dorito thin layer of the trachea” are extremely theoretical and untrainable phrases. Lots of things can theoretically work. But going from probability to possibility, Ninja moves and pressure points are super unrealistic. Have a good day. Not much more we have to discuss at this point.

I wanted to ask you a question. I Know that you don't have a rant table like Chewy. That is why I asked him too. The question is What is it about some (not all) BJJ practitioners that when you talk to them or see a youtube video they have kind of a smug almost arrogant aire about them. It is that BJJ is the greatest, and only martial art you will ever need vibe and talk. Like I say not all of the BJJ community is like this. I just never have experienced just the level of arrogance of a style with any other style like I have with BJJ. Thank you for the time, and again like I said not all BJJ practitioners are like this. I have a few friends who study, and my art is an amalgamation that incorporates BJJ in its principle, so I am not knocking BJJ, or those who take it, and I am not saying that all who take it are arrogant asses. Thank you again.
@pedro90
@pedro90 6 жыл бұрын
Obviously I'm not Mr. Eli Knight but in my experience the people who come on KZbin and knock everything else don't usually train anyway, or of they do they're bottom tier whitebelts. Part of loving an art is loving it for what it does and does not do. Any jits guy who cares at all about BJJ for self-defense or MMA is fully aware of the arts limitations. It's the trolls and fanboys who come here and talk all the trash.

Thanks for the question, Alphonzo. I’ve heard this before quite a bit, and I understand and have seen it some myself. I can’t speak for the intention behind the arrogant demeanor of practitioners guilty of this, but it might come from feeling superior to others or from insecurity or just from social-awkwardness. I’m actually a pretty quiet person myself and have been accused of being arrogant or pretentious, and I honestly don’t feel like I am. So I can’t completely dismiss others that seem that way without knowing them better. I do hate that there are many who put off the arrogant vibe, because it turns so many people off of studying a great martial art. Please don’t let those people represent the majority of bjj practitioners. Thanks again!

What if he elbowed you in the chin while you were on top of him? Also since you're on top of him and he's fixated on the knife, why not just knock him out. Grab the other arm and put that in a armbar or kimura.

Holy shit don't do this with a FMA guy you'll get killed. I mean no offense whatsoever this might be suitable against a person not trained In knife combat. Or even some guy who has trained Krav Maga and thinks he knows knives. But against a FMA guy who also has grappling experience, you're dead.
@theatlantean39
@theatlantean39 6 жыл бұрын
And when I say that I mean with this particular technique. I don't anything else about the people here so won't judge anything other than the technique. You should get some FMA guys in there who are specialized in knife fighting and work with them.
@KnightJiuJitsu
@KnightJiuJitsu 6 жыл бұрын
Are there a lot of highly trained FMA guys with grappling experience going around attacking people randomly? This isn’t a sparring technique. This is a self defense technique. The argument of “yeah well, try this on such-and-so” can go on forever. What if an FMA/Krav/ninja went up against a sniper? When training self defense, you start from probability rather than possibility. But if it makes you feel any better, this was developed by people with decades of FMA and Jiu-Jitsu experience. But thanks for watching anyway.

Why are we not hooking an eye, very soft and permanent damage? Why not an open slap to the ear? Vomiting and all loss of balance and depth perception. Why are we playing with rules when there is a knife? Maybe a little kino mutai is in order. Why not bite to destroy tendons in the forearm? You know, the ones actually holding the knife? Not to mention that I’m going to try to headbutt as soon as I can.
@KnightJiuJitsu
@KnightJiuJitsu 6 жыл бұрын
If there is any conceivable option other than biting, it’s preferable. And no one said we are applying rules to this situation. This is mechanically sound control, which is more reliable than striking at this particular moment. Every option is on the table, but some things are more reliable than others.
