5 Wannabe Hypercars That Claim 300MPH+ Top Speeds. American Hypercars, or rather vapor cars, fill this list. Will any of these actually make it into production? Hopefully one at least. Especially one of the American ones. Seriously, this is kind of embarrassing. America needs a real Hypercar to compete with the rest of the world. Why are we just sitting around, hyping crap up instead of actually putting our money where our mouth is? Instead we just keep waiting on investors before building the car, since everything needs to turn a profit here. Oh right, we're capitalists. Y'know what, I prefer that. Let's keep shouting. Also the SSC Ultimate Aero doesn't count, it was an overglorified kit car, and along the same lines, so was the Venom GT, as even Hennessey himself acknowledges that it feels too British Lotus inspired to be considered a ground up built American grown car, hence the whole reason he's making the F5. Do it right. We're waiting on you. No pressure. None at all...we're totally not 0-4 right now.

I really had to think about the acceleration of the last car in this video. Then I did the maths to what a driver would expirience during a full acceleration. (I know subtracting 0 and dividing by 1 is useless but I did it to show you the formula) Initial velocity = 0 m/s (*meters per second*) Final velocity = 26.82 m/s (60 mph) Time for acceleration = 1 second 26.82 m/s - 0 m/s Acceleration (m/s²) = ------------------------------------------ = 26.82 m/s² 1 G-force = 26.82 m/s² / 9.81 m/s² ( acceleration due to earths gravity) = 2.734 g Data for comparison (from Wikipedia): - A Bugatti Veyron accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds is pushing you with 1.55 g. - A space shuttle lifting off earths surface can push a maximum of 3 g, which is not far from the 2.734 this car could push. - The piston in a V8 Formula One engine is getting pushed down with 8.6 g.

Ill bash Hennessey just based on the things I have seen them do. Their 750 hpe kit they sell for the cts-v doesnt come with proper fasteners on the exhaust. I have had to go and install properly locking nuts and new bolts on 3 of them because they use a regular nut with a washer and a split washer to bolt their exhaust up to the collector on the headers.

Actually, as long as you can reach a lateral velocity of 8km/s, you are good for orbit. On a rocket you would need a TWR of above 9.81N/Kg for a vertical takeoff, but a spaceplane could do it with less (ofc spaceplanes are only a thing in KSP because money exists)

I think in the 2030s we'll see a car that goes 300 mph or faster. It'll probably be a twin-turbo/supercharged/quad-turbo V8, V12, or V16 on a light chassi made by someone who knows what they're doing. Until that happens I don't think that as of now 300 mph cars are possible. The technology isn't ready yet.

I’d like to see Saleen come back and create a successor to the S7. After writing this comment I forgot about the S5S Raptor, but I don’t think it even made it to the so called shell phase. Correct me if I’m wrong.

The S5S Raptor was a downgrade of the S7, purposely designed to be cheaper. The S7 Twin Turbo was in Hypercar Category (for the time period ofc) The S5S Raptor was a supercar, probably meant to be mass produced so Saleen could make more profits and expand. The S5S had a shell car that debuted in 2007, but since stayed in "concept" phase and won awards for it.

Jordan Carlson You are right about S5S, The car was never moved beyond shell car phase, at that time Saleen got bankrupt and was bought by other company and Steve Saleen was forced to resigned. When he bought his company back he said that there are no plans to revive S5S. But at least they did bring back S7 in an LM form, with Twin Turbo Comp Pack spec of 1000hp, they will only made 5 for $1 million plus. So far they had made 1. Now Saleen has been under control by Chinese company and making Artega GT as Saleen S1, they were made in China and they plan to sold it in US as well for $150k ish.

I like the all Murica jingoism with Hennessey, but (Venom GT at least) was engineered and many of the parts bar the engine was made in UK. I don't know the company that is involved (Some say Ricardo) but Hennessey just provide the engine and fund for it. I haven't heard anything about F5 yet though. But Venom GT owe it's existence to the Brits. Much like Saleen with RML and Panoz with Reynard. The only car I know with all Murica design was SSC and Vector.

Actually the Dagger is not much of a scam than Trion let's say, they do appointed suppliers, they named institution that works with them. And more importantly unlike the vague Devel, they do mentioned that certain car will be specialized in certain aspect like roadcar, LSR and drag race. But they have 0 funds whatsoever, The last time I heard them when there is an ad in DuPont Registry offering all patents, right and marketing material to this car.
