It depends on a lot of things other than ABS. But in general in a so-called "panic-stop" I would never use the rear brake. But the general idea when riding a bike is not to panic. No matter what, you gradually apply the brakes and the quicker you want to stop the less you use the rear brake. The harder the front brake is applied the more weight shifts forward off the back tire and the last thing you want to do is use the back brake when the back wheel is unloaded. Of course this all depends on how much the rear tire is unloaded and what kind of friction you have at the front and back. Whether the bike is turning or going straight, etc. In a low-friction scenario it really won't matter if you have ABS or not as you don't have much traction at all. In that case you're basically fucked if you need to brake hard. But yeah. Having ABS is basically better than not having it. Unless it's not working properly. But I've ridden street bikes on snowy and icy roads, and in deep water at highway speeds, and if you have good all-weather tires you can basically get away with engine-braking only. If you ride slow enough and don't make any quick moves on the bike. 90mph on fresh Pirelli Corsas in a rainstorm is pretty intense. It can be done but I am glad that ai only had to do it once. The far bigger issue is losing your night-sight and your sharp vision to excessive phone-time. But definitely if the road is so bad that I don't want to drive on it, then I definitely am not likely to ride a bike on it. And I have ridden at night in the rain and on wet roads after a rain more times than I want to count. As much as I like to ride. Trust me. It's just dumb. Uncomfortable, unnecessarily reckless and stupid. And for what reasons do we ride anyway? For reckless and stupid reasons. And then you have to park your bike somewhere and worry about it getting hit, vandalized or stolen. Whereas if you buy ANY car not only are they far more comfortable, you can actually carry shit in them, get far more mileage per tank than a bike will get, and the difference between safe and reckless driving is just a matter of how fast you go. On an open highway in good weather, 75 is safe. 95 is unsafe. All that you have to do is sit back, get comfortable and pay attention to the road. Way, way way easier and safer than riding a bike. Oh and have mentioned the noise, the cost of tires and insurance and leaving the bike out in the elements? Or...fixing the bike if it breaks down while you are out riding? What about sleeping in your car when you're on a long drive? Can't do that on a bike. That means either carrying a tent or a mandatory motel stop. And what do you do if you stay in a motel and come out in the morning and your bike is gone? If it's a decent bike then the odds of that happening are really good. But generally the biggest deal with a bike is getting caught out in the rain. Second biggest is having to ride in the hot sun sucking gas fumes and roasting in your gear, or at night when the temp has dropped 20F and what was once a comfortable ride is now freezing. And then it rains. And you are cold, wet and riding at speed at night on wet, slick roads...full of bumps...up and down hills sometimes mountains...which truly just sucks. There is absolutely no benefit in doing this on a bike instead of in a car. That is true in general. Overwhelmingly. Even a decent truck makes more sense than a bike for general trave. They only really make sense when you can exploit the smaller dimensions of a bike to good advantage. Which on public roads is extremely rare. Except in stop-and-go traffic. It still has to be legal to cut traffic there on a bike. That leaves...being a road hooligan. And eventually running from the cops...and trying not to get killed doing it. And if you get caught doing that then losing your license and insurance ce and doing jail-time for fleeing and eluding and reckless riding. And having your bike confiscated and sold at a police auction. The joy of owning a bike is really getting in touch with your feelings about all these things.

I like how he pumped the brakes with his foot/rear brake with the abs bike. Maybe do it the same way next time?

Look how carefully he hits the brake on the second cliff. BS bias video.

Yea he turned deliberately in order to have a deliberate end instead of leaving it to chance whether the bike did something unpredictable and he wound up hurt. Those safety outriggers are not foolproof.
