About: The original series revolves around the lives of privileged upper-class adolescents living in Manhattan's Upper East Side. After all these years i still can not understand how people can concider them as a healty couple. The only reson Blair decided to be with dan was cuz she basically lost her mind during season 5. She went through so much and she needed to be taken care of. And she felt she would found that comfort in Dan because she knew he loved her and was there for her. Ironically he sometimes was the only one with her because he was isolating her from chuck and serena. He was always trying to make chuck as a bad guy, for example after her bachelorette party he let blair think that chuck was behind this whole aressting thing. Or when he found out about the dowry he let her think it was just because he want to win her back. Dan was so insecure cuz he knew that sooner or later blair will choose chuck and im not saying this just because im team chair. It it clear that for blair dan was only a rebound and she never loved him. She even said that she knew he would never hurt her that’s why she settled for him. Even though he hurt her. He did probably most horrible thing by uploading on gg video at her and loui’s wedding. He knew it is going to ruin everything between and he knew he could easily blame chuck for it. He knew it that blair would believe him. It made sense in his head. He wasnt just trying to help her he wanted and all he could to be with her. He even manipulated her to be with him by saying that either she would be with him or she will lose him as a friend. She was just terrified of being alone. She went through so much during that season she needed something safe and simple. But it wasnt true love. She never truly respected him because after they broke up she went back to treating him as a trash and as someone less worthy form rest of them. I get it if you prefer dan and blair i can say that they were a decent copule in couple of episodes but they weren’t healthier than most of other couples in the show. Maybe if they relationship happened during different circumstances i would like them more. But they only got them together just to keep blair and chuck away from each other till the end of the season and you cant simply argue with that. Dan wanted blair all to himself he desperately wanted her to go with him to italy because he knew it was the only way they would stay together for longer. Before his offer she never thought about spending summer with him, she knew it wasnt something serious between them. She described him in her diary as “fun”. Sometimes i wonder if i can say she kinda used him?? But i dont know. And just like serena said he didnt love the real blair he loved blair he created in his book, because if he truly loved her and wanted her to be happy he would encourage her to be with chuck. Before accident he event told her that blair and chuck are meant for each-other. The most funny thing about dair shippers is that they always say that they had so much trust which is so not true. Dan didn’t trust blair, he even stalked her when he knew she was close to chuck. Im not saying he didn’t have his reasons to be suspicious but it only proves my point that he was aware about blair’s feelings towards chuck. Im not gonna even mention how he cheated on blair with serena and said that he thought she changed. He didn’t understand her at all, they may have mutual interest in movies and literature which I personally found adorable and i love them as friends but only as friends. The thing i like about chuck is that he matured and grew up and became worthy of blair’s love. Dan got only worse during the show.

Dan was the only person Blair could be her true self with. They had the same hobbies, passions, interests and deep inner world. Both intellectuals. Blair didn’t have to be “on guard” and putting on a show and proving her power like she always did with Chuck. She could actually just relax and be a real human being with Dan, and he was the only person who brought it out of her. She’d be so adorable sweet funny and cute with him. Her and Chuck had intense passion yes and it was entertaining, but she had a real soul deep love with Dan. Chuck loved Blair’s power. But Dan loved Blair’s soul, underneath the mask she always wore and he was the only person who ever got to see it

They had such a natural progression over the course of the show, and we still didn’t see it coming because we were led to believe otherwise with how heavily they focused on the other main ships. Dan and Blair brought out a different side of one another and definitely completed each other with how they were equals and partners in their relationship. Their development is honestly so beautiful, and their relationship was such a delight to witness. They were so refreshing and pleasing to the eye for me because of how much they grew to care for one another. Their indirect slow burn and development was perfect in every way! They deserved to end up together. Even Leighton and Penn liked their relationship, so I really wish people would give them a chance. They really were the real deal, and I loved them so much. If only some of the fandom could see how perfect they were to each other because of their shared interests and how well they got along. They really could’ve gone so far in their relationship if people were more open about them 😭❤️ They even remind me of Rory and Jess from Gilmore Girls because of the conversationalist aspect of their relationship and their philosophical and intellectual banters! I genuinely believe that the most important part of a relationship is conversation, and their dynamic was very interesting and entertaining because there was always something new they had to talk about to keep the comfortable vibe they’ve got going! By talking about literally anything and everything, they can easily do so much about what they discuss :)

Becoming an adult and maturing is realizing and admitting that the couple Dan & Blair was the best couple (and especially the healthiest) of the entire series. Chuck and Blair will always be iconic and adored but this couple is the very embodiment of the original toxic couple. Dan brought out the best in Blair, he loved her for who she was. And she was obviously happier and more fulfilled with him. The whole arc of the beginning of their friendship and their couple is very well written

blair and dan were the best gossip girl couple. the writers/makers really fumbled with this one. if only they were brave enough to make them endgame. this couple was the only one that actually had growth throughout the show. from enemies to bitter accomplices to being able to bear each other to acquaintances to friends to lovers. they were fucking perfect for each other. the only man who saw her as more then what others saw her. they truly were equals. instead they go back to toxic relationships and boring relationships that outlived their purpose. just imagine the plot when blair and dan are going steady and she finds out he was gossip girl all along. she would have been angry at first and then she would actually be impressed he pulled off something like that. they would have work through new sets of doubts and tribulations but they would find a way to make it work. missed opportunity. if they had been endgame, it would have the ultimate enemies to lovers and the ultimate rich girl poor boy couple in the television universe. i will forever resent the makers for not giving me that!!!!

Chuck Bass voice, 'They were prefecture. Blair was calling out to Dan in a manner, she had never done before, with anyone. Season 5 episode 15, is a true marker of something that bloomed to be one of the best scenes in its entire; And not even chuck bass's many scenes with blair, could challenge the magic of Dan and Blair; while everyone was acting there was real chemistry in those moments. After seeing Dan with Blair it was clear, that chuck wasn't her only pairing.

I started watching GG in 2024, sad I never watched it when I was younger. I won’t lie I started liking this show in season 4 when Blair and Dan started hanging out as friends- going to see the movies it kept me surprised for a moment because I know they both hated each other from the first season When Dan started having feelings for Blair and then they had their first kiss it really reminded me of this recent show “Never have I ever “ how the two lovers used to be enemies, from enemies to friends from friends to lovers Dan was very much in love with Blair he even wrote a whole book about it - I felt he loved Blair much more than he ever loved Serena. That Serena and Dan relationship was just too rushed right from the first season- I’m sad I didn’t get to watch it then I would have disapproved the ending. Still in season 5 for now- if Dan and Blair ever break up I will stop watching lol

I liked seeing Dair together because of the whole haters turned to lovers trope and the actors had good chemistry. Admittedly when I first watched the show I was disappointed that they didn’t end up together, but now that I’m a little older I feel differently about their relationship. I think they should never have had them together romantically and should have just made them become reluctant best friends and realise that they didn’t want to lose each other in that sense. Chuck and Blair were always going to end up together, but they could have found another reason to keep them apart for the sake of the plot rather than adding Dan into the mix. Having Dair just be friends wouldn’t have ruined so many aspects of both the characters and ultimately the ending of the show imo.

The worst and most forced couple of Gossip Girl, people think they are healthy and that there is true love and trust between them, but it’s all false. Dan used Blair for his blog, like he always did with every other girl, he manipulated her all season 5, deliberately keeping her away from Chuck, Serena and Louis the people who cared most about her, making her think they were bad, Like at the bachelor party that blamed Chuck for everything that happened, it was actually Louis' sister. Or at the wedding when he posted the Gossip Girl video, ruined her life, and then blamed Chuck again. Or even when Blair lost the baby and shut herself down, she pushed her away from Louis, Chuck, and even her best friend, Serena. Or when Blair asked him how Chuck was doing and he didn’t tell her he was sick. Or when she asked Louis for help because they were about to publish a story written by Dan where he spoke ill of Blair, and then made her believe that Louis was bad, when he was just doing a good deed. At this point she was convinced that no one except Dan cared about her apart from Dan (which is not true). Then when she tries to escape to divorce him he refuses to tell Serena where they were, even though he was totally aware that she and Chuck were the only ones who could help her, renting a get or something. Meanwhile, Dan was mocking Serena’s feelings, and Blair was insulting and constantly belittling him. Dan assumed that Blair was supposed to be with him, so much so that she blackmailed her, telling her that she would lose him as a friend if she didn’t get with him. And then Blair is so afraid to be alone that she gets involved with him. They may share a passion for literature and movies, but beyond that? There’s nothing else, no passion, no chemistry. Maybe Dan loved Blair, but love isn’t a one-sided feeling, So it couldn’t work because she didn’t love him. Then he didn’t trust her, and then he stalked her and then he cheated on her with his best friend, and then he hid it from her by trying to make her feel guilty about choosing Chuck. Plus in season 6 when he tries to win her back, it’s not out of love, but because he wanted to do the same thing to her that he did to Serena, even if he defames her anyway, and doesn’t admit his mistakes. Plus, Blair is unbearable when she’s with him. I’m not saying other couples are healthy, but I’m saying Dair isn’t.

People who don't see how good for each other they were, are stuck in a perspective of a love that weakens you. Blair was not only vulnerable with Chuck, she was placed in an inferior position as the video shows. As a teenager you don't understand this, that's okay, but as an adult it's very worrying. Dan and Blair were the good, simple love that Blair once wanted. He saw her completely (she said in the vows). Their dynamics were fun and brought a new air to the series. Blair subjecting herself to getting back together with Chuck was a discredit to the character and the entire evolution of the storytelling.

I would not compare them. Blair and Dan have a chemistry that actually makes the transition from platonic to romantic work, especially because they fell in love once they truly got to know each other and not the ideas they had of each other. Stefan and Caroline just don't... They made great friends but the romance was forced, they already knew each other from the get go. So when people say "they just paired up Dair because they were left" that's how I feel about Steroline. And that statement is so stupid for Dair because they've had subtext since season 1. Not even the situations are comparable.

Dan was the ONLY guy who really loved her and protected her, not like Mr. I sold you for an hotel and trade you to my uncle. -- Dan and Blair actually had intelligence chemistry and tension, not like body chemistry she had with Chuck. But Blair had to be Blair and pick the lowest like Chuck. This couple was actually interesting and not predictable
