I found Blake Crouch because of this channel. I’ve read 6 of his books and loved them all! Add to that… I’ve recommended him to 5 different people and this dude is at 100% pull through right now. Everyone enjoyed the rec. Lastly, when upgrade came out I was already on board waiting for a day 1 read. I decided to get a signed copy for myself and buddy who enjoyed him. Blake put a nice personalized note in each book. This author is an absolute must read!

I've read Dark Matter, Recursion, and Upgrade. Loved all three. Dark Matter was my first Crouch book, stumbling across it at my local library and, not knowing what to expect, being a lover of multiverse fiction for more than forty-years, I was very pleasantly surprised. With that first book, I became a hard and fast Crouch fan. I found the apocalyptic scenes in Recursion to be truly horrifying and incredible.

Thanks Mike for getting the word out about Blake Crouch. On your recommendation I read Dark Matter and loved it. After reading a long series I picked up and read Recursion and loved that as well. Early in the year I read the Wayward Pines trilogy and it blew me away. I now have Upgrade sitting on my shelf as well as Desert Places and Run on my Kindle waiting for me. Thanks to you I am a fully engulfed 'Crouch-Potato'.

I try to challenge myself to read difficult literature, but I often need a break with something fun that I can finish in a day or two. Michael Crichton is one of my favorite authors, and I love the fast paced nature of his work. His explanation of the double slit experiment in the book “timeline” is so well done. I just finished “recursion” and I absolutely could not put it down. It’s also nice to not have to look up the meaning of words on every page like I just had to do when reading “Frankenstein” as well as “the picture of Dorian Gray”. I just ordered another Blake Crouch book on Amazon, but I can’t remember which one, when I saw a negative review that somebody didn’t like it because it talked about climate change and had a lesbian character, I immediately knew I wanted it. I also reported that review to Amazon because the person said they would’ve given it four out of five stars otherwise. I’m surprised they even were able to finish it despite having a second grade reading level.

I recently read Dark Matter for my sci-fi book clubs first pick. It was my first time reading Blake Crouch and I enjoyed its fast pace and appreciate his focus on family like you mentioned, and how he makes his characters and his writing accessible. Another writer who does this well is Mike Chen, particularly in Here and Now and Then, which Dark Matter reminded me of. Have you read anything by him? I'm thinking my next Blake Crouch book will be Recursion...

I found BC's "Wayward" at the NYPL, and yes, flew right through it. The library didn't have the other two books, so I bought "Pines" and, after thinking I wouldn't, just ordered "The Last Town." Yes, he's a very fast read, and it's pretty satisfying. I think he's better than Stephen King. I read "Running Man" recently and it just has so many holes and sort of weak parts, though had a lot of potential when I started it. I have vowed not to read any more Stephen King, even though I loved his book about writing. But I think Blake Crouch is a pretty good read. I was just reading some Raymond Chandler. He's great, but it was slower than BC. This video is making me want to read his other books. Good review!

Hey Mike! I know you said that you can start pretty much anywhere in his publications and enjoy it (which I have!) I started with Dark Matter based on popular recommendation, then Recursion, then Upgrade, then the Wayward Pines trilogy (my personal favorite thus far). Hi Mike have you checked out the The ferryman by Justin Cronin ? I’m about 3/4 of the way through it and I think you love it especially since Stephen king and and Blake Crouch gave it glowing reviews. Blake Crouch said it was riveting and fiction doesn’t get better than this. And Stephen King said it was near impossible put down and so far I wholeheartedly agree. Interested to see what you think.

I recently read my first Crouch, Dark Matter, and I thought it was very okay. I'd give it a 2.5/5. SPOILERS They walk into an absolutely frigid world with normal clothes on. That is utter nonsense. Flying the box with their "feelings" was way too soft, and convenient, sci-fi for me. Also, it seemed to me the only logical conclusion of how he explained the splitting universes was that the multiverse would have been completely overrun by copies of anyone who'd ever entered the machine.
