Justin Baldoni is seriously committed to raising awareness about domestic abuse and wanted him movie to have some semblance and sanity. Blake Lively bought in her husband and deadpool editor to butcher the director's vision and make a movie which Justin didn't want. I think Blake took it from a vapid place not taking the subject seriously or the situations this might bring up if this was market at a romcom which in fact it isn’t … it’s vapid and shallow Blake seems like she didn’t read the book or boooooks about the subject matter WHILE the director has spent every minute press tour bringing up DV and also mentioning organizations that helped / can help is very telling . Blake pushing for her friend’s songs to be in the movie that seem deemed very important for the subject matter WHILE Justin had literal org helping with the tense subject matter says it all Blake showed her true colors and with this bad roll out I hope their isn’t a second not because the book shouldn’t get it but because if it’s not respecting the people with DV in the first place Blake shouldn’t direct it Also it’s obvious the director read the book and cared for it which is sad because it seems he loved it more than the “writer” and Blake . This also affecting the writer because now it’s coming up again about her ghost writer and how inappropriate it was her maybe taking stories from previous clients when she was a social worker … Wild also shows how books to movies marketing only cares about one thing and subject / respect is not that !

His beating her and her not wanting to her daughter to witness what she went through herself is what drove them apart. She is totally missing the point of the book. It’s a love story between the mother and daughter and that she loves her daughter enough to not let her go through what she went through. I’m pretty sure that if she didn’t get pregnant she still wouldn’t have left him. That is why the book is called ‘IT ENDS WITH US’ lily and her daughter and not with some other man. She is so wrong for this.

You guys!! I really don’t understand the hate on Blake. I hear a lot about her not focusing on the DV in the film.. SHE IS but not on the VICTIMHOOD of the situation. She doesn’t solely sees a woman going through DV as a victim or survivor. She is a WHOLE MULTI FACETED BEING and what she went through DOES NOT define her. As someone who’s been through se*ual assault staying in the victim mentality DOES NOT get you anywhere. What happened to you doesn’t define you, YOU define you. And that’s what Blake said. She sees things more complex. I’m honestly baffled by the superficial reactions of people when they don’t even know exactly what even happened behind the scenes. I feel like he had a certain take on the theme of the movie (through a men’s pov) while the rest of the cast viewed things differently (a female pov which is what the movie should be about). DV is such a triggering topic that the take she had on the marketing made me actually watch the movie.

I personally think the issue is that the movie is being marketing as a light fun hearted rom com with a love triangle where in reality it’s a lot heavier than that. I think where it maybe missed the mark is the lack of talk about the really heavy topics in the film (from everyone except Justin). I think maybe the message of the film could’ve been emphasised a little more from a marketing perspective. Instead, maybe a little less of a romantic comedy vibe and more of a movie about hardship and also growth and hope, despite it. I definitely agree that it is not about victimhood though and that point is so important. If you remove the unknown intricacies of the drama on set, I think they (everyone except Justin) maybe missed the mark a little bit on the promotion. Regardless, I hope the cast can work things out (if this isn’t all just a marketing tactic) and focus on the message of the movie.
