This was his first big hit and the song that got me hooked on his music. I’ve seen him in concert 3 times and he’s so fun. His concerts are always a blend of up and comers and a legend or few…

Absolutely beautiful. Phones are a little different now, he would have to intentionally leave his phone when going out fishing, bowling ect., but most people wouldn't.

Great song and great reaction. Funny story when my son was younger whenever this would come on the radio he thought it was about him we just laughed. Cause his name is Austin. But as he got older he understands now it's about a girl named Austin. And we remind him of what he use to think and he said omg really?

I love this song (and Blake’s glorious hair lol) so much. It’s grand when a song that starts out rather sad becomes a happy emotional story. Thanks for sharing one I haven’t heard in a long while. As for storytelling, I loved your reactions to Marty Robbins. Would love for you to delve deeper into his ballads and some of his more contemporary hits. Love what you’ve been doing!

There’s a beautiful collaboration between Blake and Michael Buble, with Foster on piano. Buble wrote the song (Home) and did well, then Blake had a hit with his version. Interesting crooner/country mix. Beautiful music.

Thank you for taking me back. I never thought -at the time- that an answering machine that picked up after 3 rings- would be incredibly outdated. How did that happen? And landlines- lol. But yes, his beautiful hair and strong voice with a gentle tone too- have listened to him since the beginning!

Great reaction, Craig! This is a great example of one of the things I love about country music-the way they frequently take an ordinary thing (like an answering machine), or a word or phrase, or even a place, and give it a twist that you never would have thought of. Three more examples off the top of my head are “Nobody” by Sylvia, “If You’re Going Through Hell” by Rodney Atkins, and “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” by Justin Moore. It’s pretty clever to think of these things. All three worth checking out.
