In Toronto they dont sell blanks guns anymore because people were drilling out the barrels to fire real bullets. The 8mm starter pistols were loaded with .25mm rounds and the .22 starter revolvers were drill and used to .22s.. it was a lot easier to drill out the revolvers... but you had to file the revolvers hammers a bit so it would hit the rim of the .22 bullets, since .22mm are rim fire. I rememebr back in the day in Toronto all you just needed was ID to buy bullets at stores.

I don't agree with that part..blank guns are made from zinc alloys so can't resist pressure of real round..not completly true. I have German made Walther PK380 9mm p.a.k..this blank gun is 100% replica of live Walther PK380. 380auto in all ways..slide,hammer,ejector,safety and all small parts inside this gun is made of real carbon steel and gun have same trigger mechanism as 380auto. They use even same polymer frame as on live Walther so you can't see any difference. Of course only difference is 9mm p.a.k version have steel rod inside barrel. So this model can be easily converted into live firearm just with barrel change.

Trust me, there is always a difference. Although the guns may look identical and be very similar weight there's a big difference between a low-grade alloy steel barrel and a hardened steel barrel. Only a real gun engineered using metals designed to fire live rounds are safe to do that.

So 1:1 realistic replica,even sights is real and adjustable. Only barrel is fixed and made from zinc alloy,but inside is steel insert. If i want i can easily covert this gun into .380ACP or 9mm short 9x17mm,all i must do is change barrel with steel one. It is the barrel that is made of zinc alloy, not the entire gun. Barrel is fixed. I can assure you that, unless you really know what you’re doing, you wouldn’t be able to change the barrel and have a safe and reliable gun.

@@kencur9690 why not? Even zinc slides and hammers can handle a .22 or a 9mm (haven't tested 380). A real barrel and a reinforced clamp(cold weld/epoxy) should last easily 3-5k rounds (depending on the craftsmanship). But fr some of these blank Beretta 9mm only need a barrel switch (pop in and shoot).

U can use .380 rounds with 9mm p.a.k .... u will need to modify the slide at its weak point with a epoxy or steel. Then change out barrel with steel barrel

Very informative you know your guns. But such a conversion shouldn’t be possible yet it still happens a lot. I saw in the news a crew in Essex England was caught converting glock 17 replicas and selling them all over the south of England. I’d imagine it’s because most of both real and the replica’s are Polymer. They’ll just get replica’s band all together. I have a question , what if a projectile was placed in the barrel and a blank was then fired. I’ve seen front vent blank firing guns used for home defence firing rubber balls and can also fire flares. But that was in Italy. Even though you could have the real deal. Providing you have good reason. You’d think just being in Italy is a good reason itself. Great blog thanks. Just one last thought. they’d probably sleeve the barrel down to take 22. that way they could use a rifled steel barrel and they’d a lot less charge so less combustion with a 22 so the replicas may be up to it. It may even be less Severe than a 9mm blank And the magazine is more likely to fit. The cowboys who convert won’t do that. But I agree none of the parts are up to the job so it would be very dangerous to the shooter. And could shatter. I know on early test of the real beretta 92/m9’s a couple blew up in the faces of marines, one needed stitches and the another lost some teeth. Or so the story go’s. And we all know how dangerous the British Army AR80 was I shot one of those before production the company that ended up with the contract to make them used substandard materials to save money on some of the parts So even the prototypes of real gun could seriously hurt the shooter maybe that’s why ithe 92fs not made in 45 cal. Ho I’ve just thought of a way it could be converted simply and easily not sure how accurate it would be. To say how would be irresponsible I know it would work because it’s same principle has how some manufacturers all ready do it but licensed But what do I know I’m just guessing.

I have a zeraki 9mm full auto blinking that I have taken the breach out of the barrel I have rehomed the barrel and re-rifled it now I shoot 380s 32 caliber and 9 mm all out of the same gun I do it on a daily basis and I have no problems with it firing correctly with no jamming no malfunctioning no nothing so if you do it proper in the correct ways it does work I've got proof of it like I said I shoot mine daily at least two to three clips through it everyday and I have one problem

Hi, I don't know all countries in which you can buy a blank gun... I know for sure you can get it in Germany, Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, Czech republic... For sure it is illegal in Romania, because I recently had problem at the border with it :) Zoraki 917 is a great one, but there are more options also good. Ekols (the full metal ones) proved to be reliable. Also Blow and Umarex(umarex more expensive though...).

Doing it and having a gun you can rely on and use safely are two different things. Yes, in theory its possible to convert the right type of blank firing gun that meets the stress specifications of a real gun, assuming you had the engineering know-how and a way to test it safely. But there's still no guarantee that the gun wouldn't fail or be unpredictable because you're using a gun that was not designed to be used in that way. It's like putting a jumbo jet engine on a small private jet. Sure it may fly safely 1 or 2 times, but the 3rd flight could kill you because that the little private jet was never engineered to take the forces on it of a big jumbo yet engine, and weak points will emerge eventually. Same deal with a gun. Guns are precision engineered with hardened steel and well tested.. a converted blank gun is neither, and is totally unpredictable.

They fit by diameter, and are not conical as the 9mm parabellum. But all of them are to long for the magazine, and the cartridge hits the metal on the magazine. also, the distance from the back of the cartridge and the end of the chamber is important, on my gun it is 2mm. I drilled out a blank with a 8.5mm drill and inserted a led bullet inside. It works, but the cartridge swells and get stuck in the chamber, so i reinforced the cartridge inside with a 8 X 8.5 mm hardened steel tube, then it worked. it is quite powerful, or tho it has a very small amount of powder.

Works perfectly in most single stack magazines. For double stack you need to have a specific bullet or you have to set it a bit deeper in the case with a weaker loading. But it works. There is a video from a Zoraki 917 chambered in. 380 that works like a glock

that's where a lot of people make the mistakes when converting them they put real rounds in them they have to convert the blanks as well and a lot of the time they put new barrels on them and only guarantee of them for 10 shots a free 80 will fit in a blank fire

Blank guns generally speaking cannot be converted to fire live rounds. For a start, most are purposely designed in numerous ways not to do that. 1) the barrel is nearly always sealed, hence the powder flash goes upwards from the slide. Replacing or drilling that is not advisable nor practical. 2) Assuming you have a real open barrel open muzzle blank firing replica, the low-grade metal used in blank firing replicas is not capable of taking the stress and forces on it when firing live rounds, particularly the barrel which are all made of hardened steel in real firearms. It would be extremely dangerous and probably misfire/blow-up if you tried to fire live rounds in a blank firing guns, however well you managed to overcome the design limitations.

Top venting models cut off barrel pin it in or push into breech and ensure headspace is correct for .32cal or .380cal. If small like 8mm blank it will fit .25acp no problem. Now these are not meant to handle huge pressure so hand load with trail boss powder (slower burning less pressure spike like smokeless black powder). Or modify the blank rounds. If the Government didn't restrict the pepper and tear gas rounds ppl would be less likely to try a conversion. The funny and ironic thing is top venting have to be built stronger due to having a 100% plugged barrel.

The case of of a .22 cal. Round would explode because it needs to have pressure from the chamber to withstand the detonation of the charge inside the brass. I shot the rim of one with a bb pistol gun after I stuck the bullet end in the dirt and rang my ears. It when up in white flash and threw dirt up. This makes me think that could break a blank gun. But I'm sure all firearms cartridges need the pressure of the chamber to not explode when the primer is detonated. Knowing that much. It's easy to tell if a blank gun was to chamber a live round it would explode because of the pressure.

I dont thin kit would explode out of .22 round, but for 9mm it is quite probably to happen. Although the blank guns are made from lower quality materials .22 is not so powerful to blast the barrel. Anyway I would NEVER recommend shooting a live ammo out of a blank gun.

Why are you telling such stupid things. You just need to buy 9x17 short ammunition and you're done. This 9x19 is too big. In the Czech Republic you can buy a new barrel for $ 60 and two chambered reamers for e.g. a luger. It is enough to roll the appropriate barrel and replace it. All philosophy.

I have more than 15 blank guns in 9mm p.a.k. but I use them for fun shooting and shooting flares for new year. I also own 5 real firearms,Glock 17,TT M57 Tokarev,Sig Sauer P320,Walther PK380 and S&W .38 special revolver..and i use them only on shooting range. So for this "smartheads" who want to have real firearm..join to local shooting club and get firearm license,then go to the gunstore and buy real thing. But please NEVER play with your health and life with blank gun conversions!

As far as i know there is cross inside the barrel of the 9mm PAK gun so whatever you want to shoot will not go thru the barrel.

You don't know much about firearms I've seen it done ✔ and it is not 9mm ammo live round obviously 380.acp will fit and also a gunsmith could machine with gun parts..

It will fit, but the barrel still needs some drilling and machine work in order to shoot it, which makes it very illegal in here :) Plus. I am trying to show people NOT to try doing this...

I've researched the subject and here is the thing: In theory you could find guns that can be easily converted (and modified) to use real bullets. However, in Canada at least you cannot buy bullets without a license. Easy fix: You're legally allowed to make your own bullets (as of right now at least) so no problem? Sure. Your only problem would be the materials. The internals of airguns and blank guns are no where near as strong as the internals of a real gun. Which makes a difference because the pressure inside a real gun is MUCH higher than that of any blank gun or airgun. What does that mean? It means that if you do end up going through the hassle of modifying your blank or airgun, you would end up with a hand grenade. As soon as you fire that bullet, you'd end up with a disfigured face, losing your hand(s), and possible lose your life. Could you potentially change the internals? Again, theoretically sure. But it's not as easy as you think (and not as cheap). Conclusion: It's just better to have a license and do what you want according to the law. It's much easier, cheaper and even safer. Stay safe! Don't do anything stupid!

You're not allowed to make your own ammunition you can buy the components to make ammunition but once assembled you have to have a PAL FAC to possess it.
