You can use any cast on you want. To determine how many stitches to cast on, you would need to knit a gauge swatch to see what your gauge is using the yarn and needles you choose. For multi color, you can hold two different colors of yarn together, or knit a few rows in one color, then change to another color. You can use any yarn you want, and just use the needle size recommended for that yarn.

You need to knit a gauge swatch with whatever yarn and needles you plan to use. Everyone knits differently, so in order to see how many stitches you knit per inch, you have to knit a swatch. You can do it in the stitch pattern and see how many pattern repeats you have per inch, or just do a stocking stitch swatch and measure that. I have a video on gauge if you need more info. I can't tell you how many sts to cast on, you'll need to calculate that based on your gauge swatch.

I wanted to knit a hat in the round with the star stitch you taught in another video, but I didn't want yo use the std rib stitch for the brim. I thought this stitch might look nice as an alternative. What do you think and how would I do this rib in the round? Your videos are the only ones I watch. They are so clear and concise. Thank you!

I have been watching your video about the blanket rib stitch and was curious if you cast on normally and if I were to make a blanket that was 50x60 (the typical size for a throw blanket), and how much yarn would I need to make the rib stitched blanket. Also, if I wanted to make it so that I knitted two pieces of yarn together so that it would be multicolored, how would that differ than just using one strand of yarn. Should I use sz 10 needles? What type of material should I use?

Hi can baby blanket be made with this pattern an how many stitches please thank you

In order to determine how many stitches to cast on, you need to know what size blanket you want to make. Then you need to make a gauge swatch with the yarn and needles you plan to use for the blanket, and calculate the stitch count from there.

Very easy but mine doesn't look quite like yours. I like it anyway and will make a tiny blanket out of it. To my surprise, the knitting into the front and back is easier than knitting together! (Maybe because my stitches are always too tight)

I had a sort of question. So I know it increases and decreases so how many stitches should I cast on for a baby blanket? I tried 170 but when I got to the first row and everything doubles it was too long for my needles

Stitch count depends on your gauge - you should make a gauge swatch to see how many stitches you knit per inch with the yarn and needles you plan to use. Once you know your gauge, then you can calculate how many stitches you need to cast on depending on what the finished size of blanket you want. To accommodate a large number of stitches, you will need to use circular needles. Here is info on gauge: www.sapphiresnpurls.com/2011/09/ready-set-swatch.html

mccann75 You need to knit a gauge swatch with whatever yarn and needles you plan to use. Everyone knits differently, and the weight of yarn and needle size used also plays a part. I can't tell you how many sts to cast on, you'll need to calculate that based on your gauge swatch, and how wide you want the blanket to be.
