For extra neat edges, try to cast on multiples of 4 +2 - that way you end up with neat knit columns on both sides!

Thank you so much, Norman! I love your videos!!! I noticed on my work that in multiples of 4, the work has a raised rib on one side and a flat section on the other side. Would I need to cast on multiples of 4 and add 2 at the end to get a raised rib on each side to be even? I suspect the 1-row repeat won’t work then, right? *K2 P2* K2 row one, then *P2 K2* P2 on row two? Thanks, again!!!

yeah, so it's like *k2,p2*,k2. you will get even better results by adding a slip stitch selvage on eather side. R1: sl1, *k2,p2*,k3 R2: Sl1, k2*p2,k2*

Thank you. So is the right side an odd number row and the wrong side even? Or does it matter, as it’s a Reversible stitch?
@nimbleneedlestwo2 ай бұрын
this stitch is fully reversible. However, typically the side that starts with two knit stitches is caleld the right side because the edge looks a bit better. But that's just preference.

I’m going to try to follow the way you do it. My problem is that when I knit in the round my ribbing is not even when I turn it around. When I do 2K 2P my purl stitch is really loose. So when I turn it around I have one loose row of knit stitches next to a normal looking one. It’s driving me crazy! I googled how to remedy this and OMG some of the ideas are just “insane”! I very much doubt it’s that complicated. So, anyway, I’m going to closely study your technique. Thanks for your videos and blog! Super inspiring and helpful!

If I finish a row with 2 purl, do I start the next one with purl? Can you please say how to decide if to start with Purl or knit after each row.
@nimbleneedlestwo4 ай бұрын
I did say that. You need to knit all stitches the way they appear. So if you finish with 2 purls you start with two knit stitches as these two purl stitches will apepar like knit stitches on the wrong side.

@@nimbleneedlestwo Thank you for confirming. So the side facing me is the wrong side (needle arrow pointing to the right)? so what do u call the other side facing away from me?
@nimbleneedlestwo4 ай бұрын
@@2024-b7x 2x2 ribbing is reversible...so it doesn't really have a wrong side. However you are free to define one side as the wrong side and the other as the right side. this would only matter if you add increases/decreases etc where suddenly things stop to be reversible.

Does ribbing have right side and wrong side? If it is just alternating between 2K and 2P, I think both sides should be similar, but I'm knitting ribbing in the round and I can tell one side is smoother than the other 🤔.
@nimbleneedlestwo Жыл бұрын
technically speaking, no, it's a reversible pattern. However, if either your purl or your knit tension is a bit looser, this will be visible and it's most likely what you are observing. nimble-needles.com/tutorials/how-to-knit-neater-rib-stitches/
