You do realize Black Panther Spawn And Blade came first actually right? Since they were introduced in comic books before they had films made about them. Plus Falcon And Luke Cage also came first since they were comic book characters before they were film characters. Sure. Comics aren't as mainstream as live action films. But at least in terms of comics. You had representation. If I were you all. I would actually go and read some comic's featuring those characters. Since the comics are actually far better than the super hero films they made with those characters (Plus it's gonna be a while before we get another Spawn film or a new Blade film or that Black Panther sequel).

I guess I’ll be the sour grape here and that as much as you can say that this movie is progressive for having a main character who imhas disabilities, but it’s still played for laughs. Bad representation is still bad representation, and I’d rather have no representation than bad. However, I will acknowledge that this movie does have some funny spots (especially the groin injury /woman going into labor scene and “let’s take a walk, have a seat”). However as an “In Living Color” stan, I was disappointed that of all the characters they picked to make a movie about, they picked THIS one?!? They could’ve easily have done a Homey the Clown or Anton Jackson (good observation that this movie’s character sounds similar to Anton) movie, this character was always on the D-list on the show. P. S. - At 21:07, that does sound harsh, but with some men you have to be blunt or else they think they still have a shot or sleeping with. Going as far as saying “I would not bang you if you were the last man on Earth” is harsh , but a guy could ask that question, so answer before hand if you want to be left alone. P. P. S. - David Allan Grier WAS robbed of a larger movie or TV career, but I chalked that to 1/3 “a man’s gotta eat”, 1/3 Hollywood racism, and 1/3 stardom has never been a meritocracy.

I remember an episode of Fresh Prince of Bel air when Will had on a blank man sweatshirt. That show is a time capsule.

So awesome to see you review this. When I was a kid this movie was my jam! Used to rent it over and over and over again. “I WARNED YOU, SUSAN!”

This movie isn't bad, it has a plot, character development, and character arcs, and a 3 act structure

@rommix0 who said it was "good"? you would be surprised how many movies released, including super hero movies do not have this.

I'm glad y'all at DT brought this one up. I used to loved watching it when I was a kid!! I really didn't quite place Darryl/Blankman as autistic (I didn't know what that was yet) but I felt he was a special kid in some way. I never saw it as bad but being exposed to the Wayans by In Living Color and Damon Wayans being in it with David Alan Grier I figured that it was something that was pretty good from them. Probably something they or Damon came up with since they couldn't do Handi-Man Movie. I didn't learn was John Polito was until I saw him on Homicide :Life on the Streets TV show on NBC back in the 90's. He was there in the first 3 season playing Det. Crossetti, I definitely enjoyed him playing the villain in Blankman. Polito was a pretty a pretty good actor . I didn't know he was openly gay. Sadly he passed away in 2016. A year after he married his longtime partner. This movie takes me back to the 90's where life was just so simple for me as a kid!! I'm still weirded out of his orgasms yet it's so funny when goes like that!!
