I actually got a lot to say about this game. Blast Corps was very inspiring to me. Yes there's times the difficulty notably spikes. But at the same time it helped you become a better player. You are given a good variety of options to destroy things. Honestly, this game ended up being surprisingly great. I actually would've been upset if it didn't make the line up in Rare Replay, it's that good of a game. Blast Corps is truly amazing in every sense of the word.

This game is really fun and aggravating at the same time. I don't remember how I ended up with this one, but it was one of my first N64 games. Maybe I was just hungry for games and bought whatever looked okay? I don't remember knowing much about it before I got it. I think I bought it, not a gift... anyway... this game was really cool. Kind of long and tedious after a while. I don't think I could play it for six freakin' hours, but it's one I would definitely pop in and go back to often.

I'm pretty eclectic when it comes to my games. I play ones from current all the way back to the 90s. Recently, I played FEAR 2, which came out in 2009 and I still had a blast with it. But for some people, it's all about what's "trending", being "cool" and such. It's like High School really never ended for some people.

Love this comment and its so true. I play whatever I want in the moment. Like the other day, I played Pesterminator on nes because I wanted to play a color dreams game. We all know that shit isnt trending. And sure, there are days I play more popular games like Mario. But I dont chase trends like that. I hate that shit. Thanks for the comment and checking out the stream. 👍🏼

Its also odd how people nowadays only look for engine, graphics and visual stimulation. many successful AAA games are fundamentally cinematic movies you play while the game handholds you. I feel in previous times it was always primarily about the gameplay. the game had to be fun first and foremost. the story, graphics and presentation mattered. but it was all about the gameplay.

There's only one example I can think off the top of my head where I actually like time limits in a game and that's the first 2 Dead Rising games. The timer makes sense in the context of those games and without it there's basically no challenge and it makes the games boring after a while. But, if you really want to, you CAN ignore the timer and just fuck around in the mall, but you wont advance the story and you'll get the bad ending.

@@grandmasterkupo3272 I have issue one of the comic it was based off of. The backstory behind it might be more interesting than the game itself, but maybe if Mike does some digging he might find enough interest to do like a compilation run through some of the game. Basically, this guy wrote the comic on an independent publisher, then it transitioned over to a second publisher and I believe then a third publisher. There might have been a total of 11 comics and I don't know if any of them were just reprints of the older ones. I'm actually a little curious myself is to how something with such a obscure and Mild pedigree managed to get itself a Genesis game.

Trying to find and unlock all of the hidden extra vehicles were my favorite part of this game. I used to rent it back in 1994 and at that time there were only 3 people that rented N64 games from the video store were I live, and we all knew each other so it was rare for someone else’s save to get deleted. I have vague memories of playing this game a lot when I was younger, I remember liking it a lot but always getting annoyed by the dumptruck, I thought it was because the dumptruck is a very tricky vehicle to use, but after seeing this I believe that it was probably because the dumptruck is broken and doesn't work correctly.

Mike, if u play this again. In the Options, under "more" you can change that stupid, inverted controls. At 5:14:00 you have to use these small sandhills to destroy the buildings. Thats the trick. But no one say that to you in the game. What were they thinking!?

@@mikematei Damn. You just hit me with the most loaded question of all time. I'm really just busting your chops to be quite honest. You have good taste for the most part. Minus your aversion to fighting games. I would say, next on your list if you're in the N64 library would be to play 'Mischief Makers' it's probably one of the best games to come out for the system. When I think of more recommendations I will surely chirp about it.
@mikematei2 жыл бұрын
So about fighting games. I think fighting games are good and its a good genre. I just dont play them. I’m bad at getting down combos in games like mortal kombat. I cant remember them. And for the street fighter style of games, Im awful at pulling of half circles, quarter circles and all that. Basically, I suck at the games really badly so I dont play them. I think they are cool though. I love the mortal kombat characters and how gory it is. The fatalities are fun to look at, but I can almost never pull them off. As far as Mischief Makers, I played it in a N64 variety stream I did before on this channel. Shake Shake
@thefrankiepalmeri2 жыл бұрын
@@mikematei No surprise there. To each their own. Although all the reasons you just stated were my assumptions as to why you don't play fighting games. Now, as an advocate of the genre, I would still implore you to consider this; "Nothing good ever comes easy" (Especially women *lol*) but you get what I'm saying I'm sure. If you're struggling with inputs in Street Fighter, maybe sharpening that skill set can be an entire video series on it's own. Isn't the thrill of life in challenging yourself? You would instantly expand your audience with earnest interest in the FGC and being that you're a true gamer, I really feel you're doing yourself a disservice by rejecting the genre.

Next time you re-visit the N64, since I see you do hacked games, check out some of the custom missions made for Goldeneye. I wrote the very first one nearly 15 years ago - a custom mission in a fleshed-out version of what was only a multiplayer map - the Library. I did much of that work with a hex editor before the Goldeneye Setup editor was ever released.
