There's some TTRPGS out there that use D6, i would suggest Fate Core, not only because you can make pretty much any game with whatever scenario you want but because it's quite narrative driven where the players can influence the story (if it narrative makes sense) by using fate points. Only annoying thing is that they dont ship the hardcover outside the US anymore but the pdf is easy to find.

The position the science officer stands at is "at ease". A lot of the classic US sci-fi series in the 60s had actors coming from WWII and Korea, so this position was almost second nature when standing but still showing attention to what's going on.
