I love when your “soft spoken” is little louder like this. Your voice is too good to hide it in whispers or the near whisper you start with in some soft spoken videos. I say this in the nicest way possible, and slightly hoping you continue to make more with this “volume” or level of voice.

I really enjoyed this video. Being a child of the 1980’s, I was 9 when this Vogue issue came out. The summer of 1984 was full of fond memories for me. 1984 was the beginning of the huge hair, heavy, colorful make up, high heels and the huge shoulder pads. Both my older sisters embraced this look. But even then, Vogue was on the cutting edge. Remarkable to see those fashions in Vogue back then.

My mom loved the '80s and said it was the best and most fun decade ever, but she was a punk who lived in a trap house and sold cocaine, LOL. She eventually learned to straighten up and fly right after meeting my dad, who was a Marine but also the bassist in a surf punk band called Shark Bait, they even released an album! 🦈🤙🏄♂

As a 20 year old, I’m struck by how wearable these older high heels look. The bases are tapered, but not too thin like the stilettos of today. They also aren’t super high. I wonder if this is because women used to wear heels more often back then. Now they are worn mostly on special occasions, so designers don’t make them with practicality in mind anymore. I’ve never worn heels to my office internship, but I imagine women back then didn’t have that luxury.

I was 16 in 1984 so remember this time very well. I had a couple of disastrous perms, one with short hair and long. The fashions were memorable to say the least and I wore jackets with shoulder pads, grandpa shirts, bell skirts, gym boots, duffle coats and lots of knitted jumpers. There was also the big, dangly earrings. I live in Australia and had family in the UK and remember whenever we rung them, we had to keep the call brief otherwise we would run up a huge phone bill as international calls were timed by the minute. I remember everything in the 80’s was big - big hair, big clothes, big cars. As you said, everyone lived to excess. I also remember there was a lot of cigarette advertising back then both in printed media and on billboards. Yes, sun worshipping was definitely in and a tan was seen as a great thing but luckily not anymore today. I do go out in the sun, but always wear a hat and sunscreen. I’m actually proud of my fair skin. My daughter who is 21 thinks I am pretty lucky to have grown up when I did and she is now a fan of anything 80’s because of me. They certainly were the best decade of my life.
