V!Lyon is definitely something even without pre-combat damage. His end turn gimmick is still one of the most broken things in the game.

Can still end turn actions with his A skill, sweep effect for having more Res which will happen more often than not, cuts through half of damage reduction, his Duo skill hits the same row he's in with end turn action... Yeah he's plenty fine without the as combat begins damage.

It sadly doesn’t stack with other instances of BoL 4. That being said, Arden can still heal a boatload of HP precombat damage since he’s got a hilariously high amount of HP

Fatal Smoke 4: "Prepare for trouble!" Deep Wounds Status: "Make it double!" ... Well I mean Breath of Life 4 doesn't completely prevent the healing, but it still reduces the effectiveness of Breath of Life 4 by 50 percent. But I think that's good so units can still tank burn damage a few times.

It probably counters it if a unit other than the tank has BoL4, but not if the unit has the skill themself.

I like this this new skill but also not a fan. Since i was worried they would completely nullify pre combat damage and i was right. Honestly liked the introduction of pre combat damage just didn't like how it was overturned on certain units. But now it means nothing since it's completely countered by this skill. Would have preferred a partial counter.

I'm not sure what you mean by being like donnel (never got that far in awakening) but in-game edward's actually pretty fragile but if you train him up he can potentially become one of your better units, he kind of sucks on maniac mode though.
