Its kind of hilarious if you think about it. Before, Pikachu would show up in every Battle Royale just to fall from the sky screaming. Here, the power of friendship lets him fly and makes him one of the Final Two, and that bullshit clearly won him the fight in some scenarios. But of course, when faced with a speed boost bird so strong Smogon kicked their ass to Ubers, not even Friend-shaped Pikachu could hold up.

Except that this Pikachu has a priority move in Zippy Zap: Always goes first (Even faster than Fake Out). Always Crits. And since it’s an Electric move, it has a STAB bonus, making it almost as strong as freaking Close Combat without the STAB. Yeah, Blaziken has Speed Boost, but that won’t matter against a priority move. I know that they know about this detail, they just decided to ignore it because they really didn’t want Pikachu to win.

@@dorkfish1275 If it were the classic Pikachu we’re talking about, I agree with you in many ways. As a Pikachu fan for life, even I was surprised they actually allowed him to live THAT long. But this isn’t a regular Pikachu. This is Partner Pikachu. That Pikachu has so many huge stats from the average ones, it’s ridiculous. And the fact that they gave it Friendship Mechanics is stupid broken. The only reason why Blaziken won is because they just didn’t want Pikachu to win and that’s it.

not only is it plain stupid, its blatant favouritsm regardless. EVERYONE can have the same mechanics, nothing pikachu has in this regard is unique except the moves, none of them except pika papow and zing zap would get it far against most of the starters even with buffed stats, its still frailer than every other fully evolved starter, sure only one starter is faster and zing zap doesnt care anyway, but it'd fold real fast without its electric imitation of close combat. I like pikachu, I really do, I even have a giant plush as a pillow, but pikachu's placement was biased TOWARDS it.

@@ArceusDX from what I saw, I interpreted the explanation as Blaziken had the best chance (not guaranteed but highly likely), but Partner Pikachu’s ignoring status or even resisting fainting abilities made it a powerful opponent who could’ve possibly won (as seen in the animation). He says tho that with Pikachu winning, we’ve seen “this rat” time & time, over & over again taking about all the victories it’s encountered (especially in the anime), even saying something among the lines that something this cute is way too powerful. So with that info from the video, the “nods back in understanding” and giving it up makes sense as it can be seen as Pikachu acknowledging that its abilities are busted and that the audience probably might not want another situation of Pikachu winning mainly due to plot armor (especially from practically cheating by just refusing death and landing crits the entire time, that just seems overpowered and unfair), so Pikachu acknowledges this and gives it up for the one who the audience might view as better deserving the victory (especially with how powerful Blaziken is in the game meta)

You know this could be even funnier. Picture Quaquaval and Blaziken fiding each other at the end. Blaziken is generally stronger, but Quaquaval has more HP, Def and Spd, a super effective attack that boosts its speed to keep up with Blaziken, and typed advantage on top of that. They prepare to fight, and then Let's Go Pikachu blasts Quaquaval to a fried chicken.

Blaziken has no bulk so it wouldn't win a battle royale where longevity matters, fire types got a boost because he thought fire was better than other elements for real world reasons (obviously never been in a flood), ignored grass type's access to chlorophyll or status (giving venusaur an edge against fire types that others don't have), and even said ground types resist fire which isn't true at all.

My headcanon is Blaziken's speed boost first boosted their speed past Pikachu's while they were pummeling him, but Pikachu's Static ability paralyzed Blaziken to bring their speed down to around the same level again. Unfortunately for Pikachu, there's no outspeeding a Blaziken with full speed boosts, even while paralyzed.

This was definitely an awesome battle, and 1 on 1, Pikachu definitely had a chance to win, but Blaziken was at max speed, and was banned to Ubers. It was close, but Blaziken had a better chance due to his ability. Though I do wish we got to see Mega Blaziken and Super Saiyan Pikachu, Aka, G-max Pikachu with both Z-Crystals.

Also the end implies pikachu took a dive because he still had hp, he only fainted so the audience wouldn't get mad/sad.
