My favorite thing about this game is how openly angry Bilbo is when the dwarves send him to get something like...firewood. And he just has to fight and platform for his life by himself, so when he makes it back several hours later and he's just like "AND I HOPE YOU CHOKE ON IT" and that is so relatable.

@AUDHDlucy29 күн бұрын
Artsy cell shading that requires the newest graphics card. We need games that look fun again. It's like we went back to 2002 but instead of the films all being dark and too high definition, it's the games. 1. Despite beating this game over a dozen times as a kid, I never remembered the awesome “Hello there!” line by Gandalf until today. 2. The Hobbit movies would have been far better if they’d followed this game’s script 3. Was I the only one whose game crashed a lot, especially upon completing quests and ESPECIALLY during the mine level where you find the Ring at the end? 4. I’m glad I’m not the only one who was irritated by the dwarves’ complete inability to do anything themselves. “Hey, thanks for saving all our lives for the 7th time. Do you mind going on a fetch quest for me?” 5. Gandalf appearing in a flash of lightning between the armies of men, elves, and dwarves to warn them about the approaching goblins was the most badass thing ever. 6. 21:20 I love the idea that the first thing Beorn does when he finally gets ahold of Bolg is, rather than tearing him apart with his giant bear claws and teeth, he instead give him the world's most epic b*tch-slap

This was my first ever proper video game, I must have played it through dozens and dozens of times, it taught me how to play real computer games. I wore out three copies between the ages of 5 and 12. When the second copy wore out they had stopped making the discs, but my aunt who knew how much I loved it managed to find me a new copy anyway. I used to borrow my dad's work laptop when he came home to play it. I found every secret, knew every cave, trap, and corridor (but I had to get my brother to play most of Mirkwood for me, I was pretty scared of spiders as a child!) The music and dialog are forever burned into my soul. I played it again recently, it felt like stepping through a portal right back into my childhood. I'm not sure nostalgia is a strong enough word to describe the feelings this game brings out in me, it's just memories of times when I experienced pure joy playing this game. I'm fairly sure I played this a little before my brother read me the book for the first time, and I remember being weirded out that my favorite characters, Leanna and Corwin, weren't in it. And yes, it was the first time I'd ever heard Jennifer Hale's voice. For years after, whenever I heard her, I'd go; "It's Leanna!". This game means more to me than I think any game ever will.
