I think the so called "character flaws" of Micaiah and her story are what make her so endearing. She hated everything she did in part 3 but still did it because she felt she was the only one who could and always tried to look towards the best of her situation even in the darkest of times.

I was kinda hoping to see Sakura show up on the list, since if she's given a chance and promoted/reclassed properly, she can do really well with what she does, I know most people tend to turn to Elise more, if given the option, but although Elise is faster and has more powerful magic, Sakura is a lot more versatile thanks to her growths, giving her a much more expansive reclassing list than Elise. Not only that, but Sakura has surprisingly strong/cute/interesting supports if you take the time to support with her, and you learn that despite her immense shyness and constant worry over others, she is very determined to accomplish anything she sets her mind to, and tries to be a (admittedly quiet) voice of reason that wants to help the warring nations understand each other without unnecessary casualties. Personally, she is one of my favorite units in Fates, but, I get that not everyone likes her, though that is usually because they haven't explored her supports enough, and either use Takumi or Setsuna over her as an Archer (even though the War Priestess actually has certain stats that make them better at certain things compared to Holy Bowman) , or use Oboro and Rhajat over her as Onmyoji's. Continuing on with Sakura, her reclass options allow her to work well as a Falcon Knight, since her healing proficiency combined with the amazing range and the ability to cross any terrain from pegasus knight makes her an amazing support unit, plus her strength stat growth is usable enough to allow her to do decent damage as a Falcon Knight, and if you give her the Bolt Naginata, she can really kick butt!

Sadly my opinion on Sakura hasn't changed despite me using her more and exploring more of her supports. I'll agree with you that she can be a rather versatile unit and some of her supports are very good, but for me, she just didn't do enough to make her a favourite of mine or a unit I really felt changed for the better the more I used her. That's not to say I don't like Sakura because I do and I totally get why she's many peoples favourite character, but to me, Fates has one of the strongest cast of characters in the series, and as such Sakura just kind of fails to stand out in that regard, not because she's not as over the top as some of the fates characters (I mean hell my favourite Fates characters is the most down to earth one), but rather she just really didn't stand out as a whole, at least to me she didn't.

Personally, she's my favorite character, but that's just because I'm a sucker for shy girls in anime or video games as a whole, as well as the fact that I really love the War Priestess class. Plus, Sakura's design as a War Priestess is high on the list of awesome character designs in Fates and Fire Emblem as a whole! Speaking of which, I wonder if she'll make at least honorable mention in your Top Fire Emblem Character Designs video?

The Tellius games are still my favorite in the series. I just wish there was more focus placed on new characters. That and the Dawn Brigade always touched me better than the Greil Mercenaries by that point. Both groups have this kinship with them but it felt more close and tight with the DB considering how they're this close family in dark times where things feel more sunshine and rainbows with the GM.

One unit that has REALLY grown on me is Hisame, Hinata's son. When I first got him, I mostly kind of wrote him off since I was near the end of the game. But the second time around, after unlocking a lot of his supports and using him on my team, he's now in my top 20 favorites in Fates. (PS, really like that you gave Kellam and HM. I've been using in a recent playthrough of Awakening, and he's been pretty freaking good)

why do people hate micaiah, I love her as a unit and character. sure she does fight for begnion in the war but she does it because of her position as a leader of the army and she was going to quit until they learn about the blood pact and she's forced to. it's not her fault she got put into a bad situation.

Except for the fact that Pelleas lacks any sense of leadership and decision-making skills, meaning that he's not a very good king. I'm all for placing your belief in someone, but only if they've proven themselves worthy by actually doing something helpful. Seriously, Daein was in this situation because Pelleas didn't read the finer point of the blood pact. I'll agree that it wasn't Micaiah's fault, she was very wrong in placing her faith in Pelleas, if you ask me. Though I think she's the most underrated unit in the game, gameplay-wise. After promotion, she's meant to be a healer, with the Light magic just for extra firepower. She also lands a good number of Critical Hit thanks to her absurdly high Luck. As for her Defense, just leave her behind a stronger unit. When have Mages ever been built for a frontline role?

Tetsuya Shiina my Camilla got RNG screwed my first time through Conquest to the point where I almost benched her and she was among my weakest units that I actually used. Beruka was a godsend overall since I didn't use Arthur or Charlotte either (which I regret in regards to Charlotte at least) to the point where my Avatar ended up marrying her.

I kind of want to see the opposite of this on a list, "Top 10 Disappointments/Underachievers." Characters that you thought you'd be impressed by that just didn't do it for you. My big one is Sain. I've heard so much good about him but every time I try to use him his stats don't cooperate; He starts missing and doesn't double anything, so I have to give him the devil axe in order to kill things in one round, maybe he just didn't turn out well, but Kent has always been more reliable, despite having less personality than a drawstring doll.

Radiant Dawn is my favorite game. It was my first game and I find that all the characters in that game that weren't in Path of Radiance are extremely underrated due to the lack of support conversations. Leonardo is and always will be my favorite character in the series.

I totally relate to this list Beruka is probably my number 1 unit that grew on me. And also idk if people realize how incredibly O.P Hinoka gets as a spear fighter class. She was like Hoshidan Camilla when I classed her to that, and she could eventually wield the waterwheel as that class which made her even more godlike.

Harry Morris I didn’t use Hinata much in my play through HOWEVER, I did like his personality. I remember him making me laugh from time to time. I also really love Hinoka. I based my opinions on the Birthright cast based on ranking who felt the most like a sibling I’d want irl XD Hinoka was a very good sibling and I use her a lot in Warriors. :3

Radiant Dawn is probably among my most played FE games along with its predecessor and Sacred Stones, and I've had playthroughs where Micaiah and Sothe clear through Part 4 Endgame Map 1 pretty much by themselves.....aaaand I've also had playthroughs where Micaiah has 24 HP by that point. She is a fickle lord to be sure, and probably the only lord in all of FE that can be so bad and useless that you can get away with just not training her at all and just kind of settle for babysitting her every map shes in while she does nothing.

Got the notification and said omg again. Micaiah is never useless because she carries her chapters while being the best stave user in the game. Offensively, her chip damage is high accurate and ranged, thani nuke matters a lot in hard mode and you never run out of thani. Insta a support and guard improves her early combat. Sacrifice would be thematic if it healed x2 as more but it does 3 things: it is an unbreakable restore staff. It gives chip exp when her turn is empty. It provides clutch healing in part1 when lauras reach is low to make an aggressive play. She can be speed cursed with low survivability but she is useful out of combat, best staff user in the game with monstrous magic and great staff rank. You can buy and spam physic in radiant dawn. High range, high healing through physic alone beats many many lord.

Wow, BLAZINGKNIGHT. *claps* This has got to be one of your best lists yet. I'm glad to see Astrid had grown on you so much, and that Micaiah even grew on you as well. Heck, I even got a confession to make. When I played through Radiant Dawn the two times I did, I did not like using Edward. I just couldn't bring myself to get him past level 10 in either playthrough, and in the second playthrough, I ended up using Meg over him, because I wanted to see for myself if she was as bad as you said. While that didn't go much better than the first time, Everything else was the same. Since I've seen that Astrid gre on you, maybe when I get to my third Radiant Dawn playthrough, I'll finally use Edward past part 1. Also, good luck with your future lists.

Surprisingly enough for me...Hector. Playing through Eliwood mode, I wasn't too big a fan of him. He was a great unit, sure, but I kept favoring Eliwood and Lyn much more in terms of personality. However, once I played through Hector mode, I grew to understand the big knucklehead better, and whaddya know, I grew to like him a lot as a character. And though I still prefer the other two nobles, I can safely say that Hector went from "indifferent/meh" to "love this guy". Also, Sumia. At first, I was irked by how squishy of a unit she was and how she kept dying, not to mention she was often overshadowed by her BFFL when it came to other things. However, on my second playthrough where I finally got the chance to know her better, I liked her a lot more as a character. I saw a lot of myself in her...not quite the clumsiness, but being hard on myself all the time. Also, after I really tried to use her in battle and trained her up a bit, she's not a bad Mage Flier, either.

On my second playthroughs of each one, I think Orochi grew on me the most for Birthright after finally giving her a shot and Ignatius the most for Conquest. The latter of which actually ended up not only being surprisingly endearing but also a total beast on the field.

I kind of had similar experience to yours with Hinoka, but with Leo and in reverse. When I was starting to get of my Fates hype in my most recent play through of conquest Leo was as awesome as he usually was. Then I played revelations and tried using Leo again, I now know that just because a unit is good once doesn't mean they always do good.

I just finished a HHM run and Lucius was the MVP throughout pretty much the entire game. With an A-support with Raven and a B-support with Karel he dodge and res tanked all of late game with divine tomes. At 20/20 he'd also capped everything except for luck and defence (not like those stats mattered anyway since nothing could hit him). So yeah, he's a very lovable character all around haha.

What's funny is I used Setsuna more than Takumi in my only Birthright run(lunatic), by end-game she was more reliable when it came to doubling quick enemies and 1rkoing(could be because of forged silver bow and Kaze support). Though the units I used most were Ryoma/Oboro pair-up and Rhajat with Galeforce to hit and run, she also took zero magic damage.

One unit that really turned himself around for me was Caesar from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. Initially I wrote him off because of his lower level and stats than my team at that point in the game, but on my second play through, I decided to grind some levels with the arena, and he eventually replaced Ogma as my main Mercenary, as he gained more speed and defense.

I equipped Astrid with adept and got her to silver knight in Radiant Dawn. She absolutely killed hit after that. She double hits (and occasionally quadra hits) hits everything.

In my playthrough, Beruka drew me in more then Camilla did(that and I thought Beruka was kinda...better). She's freakin' great and *she's almost as tanky as Effie*! Yes, I said that(but that's from my playthrough). She's seemed pretty crit heavy for me too! I love Beruka! She ain't as great as a wyvern knight/lord as say Jill or Harr, buuut she's pretty high up there on the list! ;3

Same, just from first glance I had a feeling Beruka was gonna be one of those unappreciated units for a while until people realize how GREAT she is. Her defense is amazing and she has some of the highest skill (which is fitting being an assassin and all) so she had a lot of crits, especially with her personal axe. Overall, I just like her more than Camilla. Don't get me wrong, I use Camilla a lot, but I like using Beruka so much better.

Not mention that with Lunge, she can kill an enemy, switch places, and possible tank and/or kill whoever comes her way! Also, Camilla, while she's alright...I don't really use her(and by that I mean she is still level 1, which is funny seeing how I pretty much use all the other royals).

Micaiah can be a beast if you know how to use bonus exp. It will always give 3 stats, and Micaiah max her magic and resistance really early, so after that is done you can use bonus exp on her and resets to up her bad speed, and use an item for her hp. Her really bad aspect is having access to her tier 3 class much too late. But stat wise you can make her the best mage in the game with a good use of bonus exp.

18:58 Chapter 8 of Birthright and 16 of Revelation is when Hinoka is playable. Chapter 4, Hinoka was there yes but as an ally unit. Or Chapter 6 of Birthright to be more specific when she was first playable but you didn't get EXP with her.

Hinoka has always been my favorite character in Birthright. She's consistently outperforming even Ryoma in my playthroughs. She quickly became my favorite Pegasus Knight in all of Fire Emblem (assuming we don't count Elincia because she's a Lord.) In terms of character, Hinoka's supports give her all of the depth and development the main story doesn't, so her lack of presence in the main game never bothered me. Micaiah is a character I gained a metric ton of respect for in my second playthrough of RD. RD was my first FE game and thus Micaiah didn't really have a great showing. Second time around, I started appreciating the subtle nuances of her character a lot more. Ended up liking her far more than Ike, at least in RD. Because in RD, Ike is boring af. Elincia is still the best tho. Anyway, as a unit, once I learned the importance of Speed and shamelessly began save spamming, Micaiah shot up through the ranks at a blistering pace. With a maxed out Speed stat, Micaiah becomes a force of nature. She can dodge tank like nobody's business, will double literally every enemy in the game except E-2 Trueblades, and can nuke shit with her disgusting 40 Magic cap. Plus she can heal and mage tank. Sure, I had to manipulate the game in order to get the right speed stats, but I don't even care. It was so worth it to have my three Lords fighting side by side and watching them each pull their own weight. I feel the same way about Astrid as you do.

Anthony Velez I don't really like Pegasus knights as a class too, they're not very strong and are really fragile. The only one I like was Tate was binding blade, and florina was fe7 was really op but I didn't like her character

Potato I like that they're fast, nimble, and mobile. They're Str is a problem, but not an insurmountable one. Fates didn't really have the best characters, but I found Hinoka to be the standout to me.

The Jagen archetype in general has grown on me. Mostly because of Hector Hard Mode. HHM also made me appreciate Lowen a lot more has he was super tanky and had high movement so he could reach choke points faster.

I've found I've had something of a tendency to pretty much never use any character who comes promoted, not even on purpose usually. Like for Fates siblings, in birthright I used Sakura, Takumi and Hinoka but in Conquest I only used Elise. As an extension to that I probably used some less popular characters like Beruka and Hana (basing that on praise for Ryoma, don't actually know.) just something about raising them from the base class that feels better to me.

Micaiah is weird case as she's actually one of the statistically better units in RD, not perfect mind you since her HP, def and speed are awful, but her availability is high, Thani is INCREDIBLE powerful, her magic and res stats are through the roof and upon promotion she gets C rank staffs so Overall Micaiah is a good unit, great even, just not on the same level as say Ike, Haar, Titania and Sothe etc.

Sophia can actually be pretty useful(and can be quite powerful) but she needs ALOT of care in order to get there and, more then likely you have someone like Lilina( and Lugh, who can also be pretty awesome) who are better and already close to class changing by chapter 14.She's pretty much the Donnel and Mozu of Binding Blade, but she's a lot more fragile and comes in a little late(unlike the other two who can join early in the game, when enemies are still weak and aren't super dodgy...not to mention...this IS Binding Blade so...yeah).

Yarne has been, hands down, my favorite character. He's funny and cowardly, but he does try hard to push through his fears. And quite honestly, in every playthrough, he is one of my mainstay, finest units. Usually with the pairing of Avatar/Panne, I make sure he gets Ignis and either Lethality or Vantage from his mother. With his high Skill, he procs Ignis/Lethality quite often, and I use items to raise his MAG. I usually change him over from Taguel to Merc to grab Armsthrift, and then Swordmaster for Astra. Between Ignis, Lethality and Astra, all with the saving grace of Armsthrift to help weapons last longer, he is the ultimate killer bunny.

I had the same issue with Astrid/Stella. I had played FE10 before FE9, so all the info I had on her was how badly she performed on my first 2 playthroughs of that game. So, when I finally played FE9, I didn't bother using her (in fact, I tried to take her Elite skill right after getting her, which was then when I learned that FE9 skills were lost upon removal). But when i finally took the time to train her... oh boy... Stella is one of the best units in the game, outshining Shinon by miles! The only reason you would want to train Shinon instead of her is if you REALLY want to put that S rank bow to use! With her Elite skill, she can easily level up by merely landing the last blow on a mob unit early on, she takes much less bonus EXP to raise, WILL max out her speed (mostly thanks to her item), has decent growths overall and great mobility, with her only weaknesses being maps that restrict movement and the fact she can't use certain bows. Pro hint: do NOT put any occult skill on her. She will not take damage or damage enough to justify putting Sol on her!

I had a funny experience with Fiona I could not get a great strength score out of her but her magic defense and resistance almost always rose So combined with that skill that heals hp equal to magic She was effectively an incincible tank that archers could hide behind Also watching a half dozen myrmidons all doubling at zero damage (and sometimes getting criticals) was hilarious

I know this is like a 1/100 000 000 chance to happen but... i'd love to see a list of Top 10 Supports in Awakening and Fates (seperately of course) you WISH could same sex S support (Of course it cannot be the avatar because honest to god, how many would there be?). this is a VERY HARD what if though because this is probably the most i've ever doubted something happening (And i'm a doubtful person). But lists i can see happening and i would like to see are Top 10 favorite Flag Ship monsters, top 5 monsters you wish you could like/ended up not hating and thought you would, Top 4 favorite Hunting Arts, Top 10 deviants you want to see, Top 5 Fire Emblem units you want to like but can't/Units you thought you would hate but didn't and probably a top 5 on least favorite monster hunter weapons. They are only suggestions though and i doubt these will be considered (Especially the first one i suggested)

I didn't really like Maribelle at first either, but after seeing her support with Vaike, I began seeing her in a whole new light! And in case you didn't know, she kinda beats herself up in that support saying how horrible she is and stuff. It made me not only respect her since she knows how cold she can be, but also feel bad because she wasn't THAT bad! The phrase "never judge a book by its cover" felt the most apparent with Maribelle, who went from being one of my least liked characters to now one of my favorite Awakening characters(and possibly one of my favorite FE characters in general)!
