As a father, what Kenny shared in his story is absolutely true. It doesn't matter what activity or sport my daughter is involved in, it is having the time to share the moments and build memories together. What hurts me most about this tragedy is Kobe was doing exactly what all parents do each weekend....spending time with the kids and nurturing their growth.

This entire journey since Jan 26th has taught me so much 1. Seeing how the whole world has stopped disagreeing and arguing but instead has set that aside to help support one another through this horrible nightmare 2. Life is too short and we can't take it for granted 3. Kobe wasn't just a basketball player...he was an Oscar winner, an author, an ambassador for women's basketball but most important he was a father who loved his family more than anything which is what I will remember most about him - Something I think that is really great to see all of the men and boys feeling ok to express their emotions because everyone is allowed to especially in times like this Kobe...Gianna...I hope you two are building a women's basketball dream team that dominates for centuries. Vanessa will continue your family life, while the rest of the world continues to keep your husband's basketball legacy relevant for years and to the families and friends who were close to any of the other 7 who died, I hope you are able to recover from this horrible tragedy that hopefully no one else has to experience

Sir Charles: Thank you for your honesty. At a time when everyone tries to sound like they were Kobe's best friend, you--as always--tell it like it is.

For the first time, everyone comes together and mourns for the lost lives in that helicopter. From Kobe and his daughter to the pilot and the other families, my heart goes out to them and the families that were involved. I’ve been through many losses yet nothing felt like this before. For the first time, I was hoping someone was planning a demented joke and would’ve been okay if it was a joke. Love you Kobe and Gigi. I was never a fan because you destroyed Wade every single time but your last season was when I first realized that you still meant so much to me. You were an enemy to me on the court but there was always respect that I didn’t even know I had for you. I watched your final game live and cheered for you and was in awe when you dropped 60. You were doing amazing things after and I started to follow you and became a huge follower and fan. The fact that you had so many great things ahead of you and you were such a role model to literally every person out there. Look over us and I hope you’re resting in peace with all the other lives that were lost.

Now January 26th will be double as hard. Three years ago on the same day, my family lost our father. I know exactly how everyone especially his daughters feel. My only blessing is, I got to grow up with mine. May God take care of everyone's families involved.

Charles is right. I was stunned to hear of Kobe's death, and that of one of his daughters. But too, there were 7 others who died on that flight, and it's right to feel something for all of them and their families.

Kenny Smith thank you for articulating the words that describe the pain so many of us feel. Kobe's post basketball career as a father may have been more powerful than his stardom. He was more relatable, even though one didn't personally known him.

When I see these greats together I start crying, because I lived to watch these greats play at their prime and to see them now really hits home and I just wish I can reverse the clock to relive those moments where life was fun and happy. RIP to all who died in this tragic accident.
