JL MARTINEZ he’s a player first, an exec second. When he said “you never lie to players…” that resonated with me. You can tell that he would rather have a genuine relationship with the players rather than over promise and talk down to them. I haven’t watched basketball in over 25 years but I know enough about it to know he’s a genuine guy. I’m sure he’s scoulded a lot of players too, because he cares about them.

Jerry’s love for Kobe was as deep as Vanessa and his daughters’ love for him. Jerry really looked at him like a son. Imagine believing in a kid since he was 17 and he actually accomplished all the things you knew he was capable of doing. Then after 20 years he retires after an amazing career and gets to enjoy the rest of his life with his daughters and wife. He truly looked happy to be able to spend his time with the people he loved the most. Then out of nowhere his life gets cut short like this, it’s truly heartbreaking. Rip mamba! I will always appreciate what he did for the game. I’ll make sure my kids and their kids know about him. He was a bad man! An assassin on the court like no one else. The basketball world will never be the same! 🐍💔

Like Bruce Lee before him, Kobe is/will be immortalized. His legacy will last forever. His impact to the game of basketball speaks for itself but what will transcend his immense popularity as an athlete/celebrity is the wisdom and philosophies he shared with the world, particularly with the younger generation. His wisdom on basketball, approach to life, work ethic etc. is very similar to the martial arts legend who also died much too soon. Kobe's legacy will be similar. The game will inevitably evolve and the future, newer, younger generations may never truly appreciate his game but people will still be quoting and reciting Kobe's wisdom 100 years from now.

I’m from New Zealand, grew up in the hood of New Zealand in a rural town. Kobe has never met me or knew I existed and the past two days I have been mourning. I cried driving home from work yesterday. If anything, that shows how big Kobe is around the world. A grown man that doesn’t have any connection to Kobe apart from being a fan half way around the world is mourning. Such a sad day. I hope his family especially his wife, his other kids are supported and blessed for the rest of their lives! Never hold grudges, be thankful and let your loved ones know you love them everyday. Respect to all of the men that came on the show today to express their emotions, feelings, and experiences. I’m not religious but God bless you all!

Jerry is probably one of the few men in Kobe's life where Kobe broke down, landed on his knees and asked Jerry what to do and how to move forward. You can hear it in his voice, everyone knows the tough minded Kobe, but we all know Jerry has seen the broken Kobe and what is probably hurting him the most was seeing him getting better and better every second, to see that stop in an instant... It's heartbreaking.

@Popi ReAL it's a boys club and the other owners wanted him out. He was running the franchise into the ground and was apparently just terrible to be around which was bad for business.
