doing recoveries every day, I can confirm 100 percent, people go unprepared and don't have tree savers shackles, or a snatch block all the time. We constantly run into situations where a suctioned truck tried to single line to a tree and snapped their line. Where if they just used a block they would have came out

@TRD Pro's why do you think we have tree savers?? Notice the scar he put in the tree? Tree savers are min 3" wide. This is just a gimmick for him to make money. They all make it very clear. Then here comes a youtuber with zero credentials and everybody buys it.

Tree savers are such a weird concept for someone from ND. Our state tree is a telephone pole... But seriously, I wish we had trees to help winch out of situations. 9 times out of 10, its winter, you are stuck in snow and your tree is the neighbors 3/4 ton.

@RustyStringz

I just found out about these "tree savers" and it got me thinking about all of the other ways to use that strap for vehicle recovery. It would probably work just fine wrapping it a couple of times around an axle or anything solid, and not have to work about pinching hydraulic lines or cutting into soft aluminum parts. I know that without the factory towing eye, there's nothing to hook onto without doing some body, bumper or fender damage on my Mercedes, and it's usually buried under heavy DJ speakers and equipment that would have to be unloaded in order to get at it. That's not always favorable in bad weather, at night or on the side of a busy highway without a break-down lane, (or all three) so having one of those would really come in handy to get it pulled up onto a trailer; not that it's ever happened to me because of a failed fuel pump or anything - twice in one month... Call it a "Fml saver".

I tied my winch line very similar to the way you have you can DIY this if you know what your doing. I am happy to see you selling shorty versions for people who don't know how. As a replacement rope your new price is not bad at all. No one should be using hooks or those aluminum thimbles anymore; Dyneema/Spectra/HMPE has made them all obsolete. Always use a tree saver, damaging the inner layer of bark (phloem & cambium) of a tree is deadly. In logging notching, ringing, girdling or barking is used to kill a tree and leave it sanding to dry for later harvest.

@@bleepinjeep yeah I drove a flatbed tow truck for about 8 years and all we had were the metal cables. It was until I got a job building Can-Ams that I used the synthetic rope and I’ll never use another cable again. I would’ve never thought they’d be as strong as they are but they’re almost as strong as the metal and last WAY longer. Definitely way easier to use and handle.
@RustyStringz
@RustyStringz Жыл бұрын
 And I'd rather not be in the way of a metal cable when it snaps, or your anchor point fails. I'm sure a synthetic line would still hurt, but probably not decapitate you or smack a heavy shackle into expensive bodywork or windows. I just didn't realize how expensive they are to replace. My brother's '09 Rubi has a Smittybuilt 10k in front that has a metal cable and hook, with two shackles and a doubling block stored on the bumper. It's a nice setup, but he's mobility impaired so someone (usually me) has to do stuff like air downs and hooking up the line when he gets crazy ideas that are beyond his driving ability (but that's half the fun of jeepin' I guess). I'm not fond of having heavy metal objects thrown in my general direction for any reason whatsoever, so I was thinking about getting him a synthetic cable for his birthday (4th of July) anyway, and now I see this Freedom Cable without the need for using anything mettalic in most cases, and with that Tree Saver strap it becomes almost a universal recovery kit. It might be Christmas before I can afford it, but it's definitely not happening before July 4th of this year. Maybe by next spring I'll have the whole thing rigged with fresh cable and be feeling better about not having to dodge shackles or damaging any trees in the process of keeping him on the trails and happily bumping along with the rest of the club.

Interesting update. The knot at the end is a big step forward. I would only use the knot combined with the soft shackle. If needed you can combine that with a strap. So I do not see the use of the three more holes one the rope. That just makes it weaker. More versatile but not my need. Another point: you have to make it as simple as possible. For the guys who are only familiar with hooks. And there will be a time another guy has to help with your own winch.

- missed this last year... going viral all over again ??? glad you got around to using a douple-eye'd toggle loop for the "shackle" - user upgradable, replaceable, repairable, etc.. Personally I reckon a simple locked eye is more general, I can always tie it into a BFK any time I need to slip a shackle end (or toggle loop) over or under any securing object - back to BFK/Eye.. (an extreme bury - 2.5m / 8-9ft - with a couple of extra sliding eyes - double brummel lock the outboard end of every eye, not a silly idea.) Great stuff... Several midpoint eyes are also - dabomb, though these too can be inserted into the line as needed, no patents need be filed, sailors sorted these things out a long time ago - back in windjammer days, and before.. (some spare AMSTEEL 11mm - or ultimate haul line - is useful for making shackles, split lines, etc...) (how strong are the in-rope eyes?? - ok full line strength - as the whole terminal line is doubled - including the half brummel locked splits...)

Oh, and on the fair lead concept, don’t worry about the removable piece ( I would just throw that in my glovebox), instead just put a hooked slot to feed the line into and then the ball at the end will cinch up against that tight. By the way, you should add a rope ball at the end of the removable piece so you can use it as a soft shackle in a pinch. If it did, I would get a second one in order to have a working backup….

Really cool, sometimes the best innovations are just taking that next level of simplification. Great job.

Us guys in the sunshine state really know how the sun can kill a rope, and a ball of it hanging out your fairlead is prime for rot. But yeah, you sold a twelve footer and I'm doing some sewing. Hopefully it comes with the soft shackle though, I'd sure hate to use this yellow one that has another Matt's name on it.

Thanks for your purchase! It does come with the Freedom Loop, its not a soft shackle though as it has two loops on each end to work with the Freedom Rope. We did use a coating on the V1 model as you can see on MORRS Corrvair but I wasn't happy with how it wears over time.

the new price point is now very enticing ! the original price of $500 was too much for me, but $300 is very competitive. it is now cheap enough that i can buy a warn winch with steel cable and install the freedom line for less money than buying the warn with synthetic rope

Love the Freedom Winchline! Awesome product. How about a 12,000 lbs winch? You mentioned 1.5 times stronger than… I have a f250 Superduty with a 12,000 lbs winch but I’m not sure about running a 15,000 lbs rope. Thanks. Keep up the good work. Love the channel. Brian.

I have a fondness for amsteel it’s just so versatile you’re use of synthetic winch line is brilliant and for this with out the savy you’re price is good myself though I think I’ll just get out my did and buy a piece of quality sheathing and make it myself… I wish you all the luck in your marketing though I’m sure a lot of work has gone into bringing this to fruition

I still say a tree saver is good practice. Even a synthetic line with abrasion cover will damage trees.

Fantastic video and even better fantastic product, I love my gen 1 rope and have no complaints. I am looking at building pumper attachments that make use of the synthetic rope possibilities and get rid of the bow shackle attachments that stick out. I keep running into those things for some reason especially when working out of the back of my XJ.

I have worked in R&D of products before, and can tell you haters gona hate. I currently own an Engineering firm, so I 100% know what you are going through as you evolve this product. I personally don't see a reason for me to buy one right now, but when I eventually wear out my WARN line this will be high on the list to replace it. I would like to see as a customer would be bright color markers where the slits are on the line. Maybe mark the sleeve at those locations or something. Your price point is fine. $500 for a quality line isnt out of spec. Out here in the PNW marking up trees like that gets the eco Nazi's fired up so just an FYI. Maybe address that on the 4.0 . Tree savers are a thing for a reason. I bet you can offer a 3" wide velcro strap to go on the line. Anyhow good stuff!

Thanks good ideas, just FYI the most expensive one we have now is $300. But yes, use a tree saver as I mentioned in the video. I like trees just as much as anyone but out here they are treated more like weeds.

I want to point out where you showed the newbies wrap the tree and hook the hooks back to the line, in a chocker it weakens your line by 30-50 percent causing it to break prematurely
