Best spring change video I have seen, and I have watched them all, thanks. Please make another showing how difficult it is to shave that Fungus off your top lip. I think that U will find it harder to do that than to do a leaf spring change.

if its taller than the xj leafs then use em. make up the difference with a taller shackle if you need more lift.

Super Mario! is that a real mustache? I like that you kept the camera still rather than have it stuck to your head and follow your every move, most videos are like that, so good for you. and thanks for that. I have to add a leaf to raise my Safari van and just trying to see how its done, way too much money to get it done in a shop.. love the kicking action on the wrench, mechanics 101, at least I have hope now. thanks again.

Most shocks Ive seen for the Cherokee are sold for 0-3" of lift, then 3-5 inches of lift(or so). So at 3.5" of lift I am just over the limit and will change them when I get a chance. But it will be just fine for street driving and some mild wheeling for now. I havent driven it yet so I'll have to let you know about the ride.

depends on budget but I'd get some new leafs, longer shackles, maybe a 1 inch block to get it all back to 6 inches. You could just go with a 6" leaf but that would be pretty stiff, or if money is tight you could bastard pack it but that's be stiff as well. Also, the flat leafs arent much of a problem but 6" blocks are!

Generally people recommend a SYE at about 4" of lift and higher on the XJ. So no, you dont HAVE to but it is always a good idea if you have the time and $.

Colorado is not a rust free state but check it out if you want. A good quote from Dolf De Roos - "The deal of a lifetime comes around every two weeks"

Love all your videos but if I may make a recommendation. Any bolt that tightens a bushing on your suspension (I.e your leaf springs bolts, your shock bolts, control arms..) you should tighten after you have set the vehicle on the ground and it is under its own weight at ride height. This ensures that they will be in a neutral position at ride height and can articulate through their range of motion without binding up or wearing out prematurely.

A sway bar reduces body roll when going around corners. On an XJ the front sway bar alone is sufficient. Considering lift packs are stiffer/sturdier than the stock packs. Also, leaf springs don't roll nearly as much as coils, So that puny little rear sway bar is preventing the rear axle from flexing when offroad.

you can remove the bumper and cut a square hole into the end of the frame rail from there.... or you can cut out the back and bottom of the frame to get access to the nut. Either way will be a pain in the arse.

You might check some pawn shops for 1/2 inch drive impact wobble sockets. It makes getting onto nuts/bolts like those shackle bolts a LOT easier!
@bleepinjeep11 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, you shouldn't need to change the driveshaft for a 2" lift. Either you did something wrong or the leak is an unrelated issue. Is your tire still centered in the wheel well? I doubt its the case but I guess its possible to put the leaf packs back in backwards wich would not be good!
@masonsboyz7 жыл бұрын
This is a good idea! I like it but now I have to get a Jeep to do it. You need to help me out with a WJ. I like the older one but I ended up with a WJ.

if you tighten the shackles up while the vehicle is in the air and set it down it will have the bushings in a bind and wont be an acurate hight and could tear the bushing if its not in good shape

Ok got the front bolt out much popping but its alright. Had to remove class II hitch to get clearance for rear bolt removal PITA! The Bleepin Jeep is fighting back, both upper mount shock screws broke off after much soak time with Penetrating oil. And I've broken a easy out now as well. Afraid to use heat on left side due to fuel tank and fuel filter in close proximity. Was wondering if you've ever seen floor cutout and bolts/nuts used for top shock mounts??

Got some new Crown leaf spring packs and Energy Suspension bushings for the GF's '99 Cherokee. Any pearls of wisdom on not snapping the forward spring eye bolt and upper shackle bolt when taking things apart? I've already sprayed everything down with PB Blaster,.. and will again for the next few days. Anything else to keep from breaking things off in those weld nuts would be appreciated.

Lonewlf7676 hmmm, cross your fingers... I would think a big breaker bar and slow movement would be less potential to break them or strip them than an impact but that's just speculation.
