Beautiful! I was confused at first why there was so much length of thread between the last beads and the first eye pin/knot but figure it's to give yourself room to work on the other end, since those beads are right up against that starter knot. Is that correct? You just shimmy all the beads down to the first cone?
@SandyHuntress8 жыл бұрын
Yes, you need more bead than you might think to comfortably be able to knot. I always like to cut a little more rather than less, we all hate to run out at the end!

Love this one. Beautiful colors. I have the electric spinner and the noise drives me crazy! I wish I had the other one. I do love that it takes a lot of work out of adding seed beads to a project.

Another great video, love your easy teaching manner. I was wondering, how do you know to use Thread or Wire on your projects? Thanks again. 🙋🏻
@SandyHuntress6 жыл бұрын
That's a really good question! I suppose it's a combination of considering the kind of drape I want, the weight of the beads I'm using, and if the beads have any sharp holes, like crystals. Thread is going to be more drapey than even the finest wire, which is why I used it here. If your beads are heavier or they have sharp holes, then wire would be a better choice.

Hi, I know this video is 9 years old, but would these beads still be available anywhere? I've recently decided to try my hand at jewelry making and I love this necklace! Thank you!

Hi Fiona, glad you like the project! I'm not sure that this would work with beading wire instead of thread. My concern is that it wouldn't drape as nicely. Perhaps if you had VERY light weight wire. It's always worth experimenting, though!
@fionar16568 жыл бұрын
Hi Sandra, thank you for your quick reply I appreciate it. Yes you could be quite right about it not draping as nicely. But I think I will give it ago with beading wire for pearls as it is light weight and see how it looks. I love your tutorials and I can't wait to experiment with this one. Thanks again for all your videos please keep making them.

And how do you deal with the loose thread you have on the end. between the cone and the knot????
@SandyHuntress7 жыл бұрын
Once the glue is completely dry you can trim the loose thread ends.

You slide the beads down and then lightly snug up the threads when you tie off the other side.
@rimaphillips97507 жыл бұрын
I would really appreciate it if you would show this step. The tutorial is otherwise very clear, but I am sure hung up on this step, and I am an experienced beader!
@SandyHuntress7 жыл бұрын
I think if you had the beads in your hand and were trying it it would make sense. Once you have the threads knotted at one end you grasp all the other ends, slide the beads down to the first knot and then proceed to knot the remaining ends together near the last beads. It's basic and intuitive if you have the beads in your hands. If I do another necklace in the same style I'll be sure to point out this step. :-)

hi please tell me the name of the wire that you used. is it a thread?

It is Nymo (short for nylon monofilament) beading thread. You can find it in craft stores in the jewelry section or here online: amzn.to/2EhmqVy.

I'm I understanding that you use string for sea beads and stringing wire for all other beads? I'm a bit confused when to use string. As always beautiful work! You inspire me!
@SandyHuntress7 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, Laurie. I used thread for this necklace because there were so many strands and I wanted it to have a nice drape and feel. I could have used fine bead stringing wire. The wire is stronger, so I used that with anything that's has heavier beads.
@sandramccormick83269 жыл бұрын
this would be a great way to use up all those little left over beads or to use up those pesky beads that are not uniform in size!!!
