Apparently In newer versions of Blender (3.2+) the "Hair Info" node is now the "Curves Info" node. Great Shader... Thanks

Here's a tutorial about how to make a tutorial retaining the viewer's interest for 14 minutes (which is a lot of time): first you show the rendered hair in all its splendour. Now, when everbody gets impatient to know how you have achieved this masterpiece, you promise to reveal it soon, and then you go and insert an unrelated and boring message from your sponsor. And when the anticipation grows stronger and stronger, and you can feel the tension in the air, and when you got all the audience mad, stomping with their feet on the ground, tearing and pulling on their hairs, clapping and whisteling, then - jump right into the tutorial inmidst of your hysterical screaming fans. That's how you do it! Not the other way around! ; )

It would be more interesting if you show how to make strings of different colors instead. Mixing all colors just make one color in the end anyway. So I don't see the reason for all mixing. Except for the toning on the hair length.

If I open an setting for hair from 2.79 to 2.8, the thickness of the hair seems to increase zooming out (the eevee hair is a lot thicker at distance than close up) this might not be a real issue with main hair, but with body hair it makes people into zombies - or am I doing anything wrong and missed a setting? (changing the hair thickness did not do anything for me in 2.8)
@RicoCilliers
@RicoCilliers 5 жыл бұрын
did you try setting the hair to "strip" as I did at 12:44 ? doing this should allow you to change the thickness of the hair. the "strand" setting just displays a constant thickness as far as I know.

I'm pretty new to Blender having come from Maya and this is amazing thank you for demonstrating! I realise this video is over 2 years old though I was still having the same problem with Blender 2.92 rendering the hair black in the Eevee viewport. Is this still the case with the latest version of Blender? I imagine this will be fixed pretty soon. Being able to groom in real time is amazing!

I'm going to try this when I get home, but I'm having some problems with specular lighting: when working with a bunch of strands, the ones in the back reflect the same amount of light as the ones in the front when looking from different camera angles. Any thoughts?
@RicoCilliers
@RicoCilliers 5 жыл бұрын
you could try to mask the specular from the back by using a backfacing mask method, (the Input > Geometry node then use the "backfacing" output of that node) but you'll have to google it. either that or higher hair density might work.

hey I just got a question: how could I export particles hair I created to an game engine like unreal engine ? thanks
@RicoCilliers
@RicoCilliers 5 жыл бұрын
actually I don't think it's possible to use a hair curve system directly from blender inside unreal engine or unity, but you could try a technique like in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/inKoYWSaftWGZ9E unfortunately this demonstration is made with a paid addon.
@bigdwarffrosta7877
@bigdwarffrosta7877 5 жыл бұрын
@@RicoCilliers I got it to work with the same addon, but with another method... I converted my particles into hair cardds with that addon and that fixed my issue. But thanks for the help!
