Alright guys, we are making our way to the good stuff. I know these explanation videos might seem a little basic for those of you who are more advanced, but I really want new users to be able to follow a streamlined playlist if they've never done this before. This next video tackles what I believe to be one of the most confusing things for new 3D artists to get their head around the first time. I'm hoping this video helps clear the subject up for those still trying to grasp their head around. Please enjoy, and I look forward to seeing you all in the next tutorial coming soon!
If you enjoyed this video, please don't forget to like and subscribe for more content!
You can find my entire Blender 2.8 Speed Tutorial series playlist here:

Perfect. Why is it so difficult for other channels to get to the point, and stay there. It's weird.

Gatekeeping if I were to guess. I leaned everything I know about blender with obscure tutorials, trial and error and actually good videos like this. Every "Pro" I asked gave a complex answer with terminology that obviously was unnecessary and word soup. Other's i asked refused and told me that I should've already learned that by now or that I should've watched some archaic tutorials just to find one issue I had.

thanks for the video. im a beginner using 3.4 and i also learned a few extra things here: 1. Blender by default does not auto sync your edit mode and UV edit mode. You'll have to toggle that in the UV edit mode. 2. Interestingly, your UV editor is auto-unwrapping as you mark these seams. There's another setting I had to toggle under "Active Tool -> Options -> UV - Live Unwrap" to get that working.

Other youtubers: "Let me show you how to unwrap "this" object and then go do the same on yours." Royal Skies: "Let me show you what these red lines actually do and how they interact with each other." I literally just went from cutting random lines all over until it seems to work out... To actually perfectly unwrapping a fairly complex piece of armour and understanding why it actually worked.

@TheRoyalSkies
@TheRoyalSkies 5 жыл бұрын
No problem, I'm real glad to hear they've been helping you. As far as where I learned all this stuff. It's a bit of a story, but I started teaching myself to make video games from the 10th grade. And, I made a bunch of 3D models throughout high-school to prepare for a game I wanted to finish by college. So, by the time I got to the middle of college, I had about 5 years of experience modeling, rigging, texturing, and animating. And, the last 3 years of college I spent programming everything together. And, that's the project you see me sharing at the end of each video. The tutorials I'm making now is just me sharing everything I've learned in the last 12 years. But, there's honestly no reason it should take you as long as it took me to learn. My goal in the next 6 months, is that you all know how to do everything that took me 12 years to learn. Hopefully saving you a bunch of time. But, yeah. That's the story. Sorry if it was long. Very few people actually ask that question lol. Anyway, hope it helps and welcome to the channel :)

At this point if you just open Blender, delete everything, and hit UV Unwrap, you'll get an unwrapped cylinder. This has got to be the trillionth tutorial on it, and that's because it's the simplest thing other than a cube, but it looks better on the UV layout.
