Every time I try character modeling I get to somewhere like 1:35 and I think to myself "that looks like absolute garbage" and just give up - seeing this makes me realise that's a normal stage and maybe I should just push through
@GraveUypo Жыл бұрын
yeah i tried it about 12 years ago too and that is a relatable feeling
@nartz5361 Жыл бұрын
i really understand the feelings, it's kinda looping in every minutes
@raphezar2049 Жыл бұрын
I mean... if it's incomplete, of course it would look incomplete. In 2D art, sketches are the same, they're just one stage of the whole process That's why I'd rather push through to complete something rather than leave it half-cooked, if you get what I mean
@gedar205 Жыл бұрын
Keep working on it, trust me. I started learning blender 1 year ago and begun to work on a vtuber model 8 months ago and yeah, it always looks bad at that stage. As you continue doing other parts of the model, specially the hair, it will be easier to see what's wrong and what you have to fix or polish in the face.

One day when the skill is sufficient we can come back and see it analyze it and learn from it by ourselves without the need of a tutorial. I know I will. I'm grateful for the timelapses uploaded that let me see the actual workflow, just raw modeling. The teachers are also appreciated but this is like field day

Wait you don't regularly do that? adding that to my blender notes when (or if I even) get blender
@iskadushsmilerubabush3624 Жыл бұрын
@@Ally-Oozyin games and animations they usually sculpt a higher poly one and retopology it to a lower version but it's easier since there's an option for auto retopo or even if manual you can set it to snap on faces. with that, they can just focus on making a good topology for animation. after that, they bake the shadow cavities and highlights from higher version to low poly so it will look like the higher quality version
@cromrin11 ай бұрын
I normally do geometry by hand its easier because of the prettier topoly that you don't have to decimate or retopology. But I am still searching for a good sculpting tutorial, I know the essentials but I always have so many problems with it.

The modelling workflow is very inspired by a tutorial by dikko. Find his polymodelling series (a year or 2 old) and it will make this so much easier.
@nidgithm Жыл бұрын
the method used in this video is almost exactly the same as the one used in mmCG animetic's tutorials (theres a playlist). they are in japanese, but if you use google translated captions and just look at what hes doing you can already learn a lot. iirc theres pretty much no timelapses and it really goes into detail. i havent checked dikkos tutorial, some things in it might be different since its not an anime style tutorial, but since its in english it might be easier to understand.
