you are really good in topology. and this not about triangles or ngons. It's the way you are thinking.

Not sure if a manual retopology makes sense here. You could probably have used Quad Remesher which produces pretty clean results in a matter of seconds. Normally, you don't need an animation-friendly topology when you deal with static archviz models.
@1DInciner4 жыл бұрын
The problem is that all those remeshers doesnot support variable density meshes, so their results are too heavy, and they don't preserve detalization. We will wait for appropriable remesher tool in 2025.
@justauserru4 жыл бұрын
@@1DInciner You're possibly talking about Voxel/Quad Remesh. Forget this half-assed crap. It's only useful for sculpting. Quad Remesher is dope. It's a very capable add-on. It's smart enough to place edge loops nicely so that details get preserved well. I believe you'd still need to tweak it by hand here and there afterwards. But at least that's not like doing it from scratch anyway. We're definitely not quite there yet, but there are retopo tools in the making and I'm pretty sure it'll happen long before it hits 2025. Gotta be optimistic and patient (:
@1DInciner4 жыл бұрын
@@justauserru yes, I know about qr addon. But such videos have another purpose - it is a workflow test. The problem is that it is impossible to say if your manual retopology workflow approach is good without analyzing mistakes that are made when you are physically exhausted. As you may know, there are a lot of handy looking manual retopology solutions, that was never tested in such conditions. Yes, it is a hard way of workflow testing, but for us it is necessary to know how much endurance it preserve, and what actual limits it allow. It is just a part of a proper workflow design process.
@justauserru4 жыл бұрын
@@1DInciner I really like your workflow. Just wondering what part you find the hardest when doing retopology and what particular tool you wish currently existed to help achieve the result you're after quicker, basically any idea that could speed things up significantly but not currently implemented by developers. Thanks, really enjoyed watching your timelapses, wish you posted more often. Keep up the good work!

+MediumSolid Instalement Well, I made video about F2 because I'm concept desigher of this tool, that come to Bartius Crouch, asked him to write such tool and supported it`s development. I don`t have any allies to RetopoFlow development, except a bit financial support in the begining. They made a cool and awesome progress here I`m interested in, however, I failed to retopo surfaces like this via RetopoFlow, also its modeling mode is still a concept, so I prefer to use F2 yet. My next video can be about 1D_Scipts or Bargool_1D_Tools - a stuff which concept design entirely belongs to me , or Mira Tools, that was partially supported by me. I think Jonathan Williamson will made a new video about RetopoFlow with pleasure, if to ask him ;)

1D_Inc Glad you've updated me with useful information. I only wanted to see you model with the RetopoFlow because you always seem to model some very detailed models. So I was interested to see you do it. But I understand, and also, the F2 add-on is great, keep up the good work.

My question is, when would you need to retopologise in this way? Would you use this process in creating realtime assets? Baking a complex mesh as a normal map onto a simplified model.
@1DInciner8 жыл бұрын
I make retopo for any product that I made by sculpting. As far as preparing products this way takes x3 times longer, I use sculpting just in extreme cases, such as dead quality of refrence images.
@BobDuffy6 жыл бұрын
Retopo is needed on any sculpted or scanned mesh to be used in a game software or to be animated. This however has enormous detail even after the retopology. A lower topology could work with baked normal and displacement map, but I suspect the desire here by the artist is to demonstrate a very skilled technique that gives you details where you need or want something of higher detail perhaps for 3d printing, film or other need

Claas Kuhnen well, I was collecting them for a pretty long time, from different sources, trying to get copyright free so this video doesnot contain ads. I thing I love this style because I'm a LISP programmer. Here is my best themes/authors list, that deserves to be heared: 1) Romeo Knight - Beat to the pulp (true Amiga demoscene) 2) Pocketmaster - Joggers in the park/ Crunch/ most of themes 3) Danny Baranovsky (SuperMeatBoy OST) - stage themes with chiptune covers 4) Howard Drossin (Comix Zone OST) - with his instrumental rock and singed covers 5) Earthworm Jim (special edition) - covers on Sega mega drive originals 6) Different indie games from Steam (Edge, Rush, FEZ) 7) Jurassic Park [NES] (Jonathan Dunn 1993) - any theme 8) Shinobi III (Sega Genesis) - any theme 8) Vim! - No 9) Different Soundcloud authors ______________________________ 10) RecursiveLemming - Chiptune compilation - 282 themes where 10-15 are good enough (such as Subject - Gatecrashing_4, Rez_and_Kenet - Unreeeal_superhero_3 or JosSs - F*ck da rippr) I listen for quite wide range of music, from Kraftwerk and Pole to Aphex Twin and Jakub Nox Ambroziak
