You can check "First Last" in the Array modifier to merge the top part of the basket. So you don't need to apply all modifiers.

cool. let's give it a shot. I want to know whether in this version we can control the direction of the tessellation or not. It works fine for simple geometry but for complex form and loops it's hard to achieve what I want.

I am not a 3D artist. I am a math teacher. I only create a lot of educational supports by hand with paper. I would like to hire you to make 3 of these very baskets, BUT WITH tall handles. In addition to what u created I would need a circular one and one with an upside down trapezoidal base (smaller base at bottom). Can I hire you?
