This is very helpful overall. One question, is there a simple way to edit a single 2D closed curve symmetrically? I'm trying to edit a curve to use as a profile along another curve and would like to do it symmetrically without having to copy and scale by -1 then move and join every time I change something to see the results.
@christopher3d47510 ай бұрын
That's a good question, I'm not sure Blender has symmetry for curves, but I'll check it out.

@christopher3d475 Жыл бұрын
That's a good question, there's likely a technical or mechanical drawing type add on out there considering the sheer number of add ons available. I'll do some looking.

How do you add color to a bezier curve? Changing Wire or Wire Edit colors in Theme isn't working, and can't find any solutions online...
@ColinCunningham-m6q4 ай бұрын
I was pulling my hair out because snap wasn't working for me. It's because it snaps based on your CURSOR position, not the active point. So you need to position your cursor by the point you want to snap before hitting 'G'. Extremely frustrating.
@marcelthevirginian1656 Жыл бұрын
I'm having difficulty reading the bezier handles. My handles are only a few pixels thick, making them very hard to read. In your video, your handles are a lot thicker and are much more readable. I set Blender's theme to Light Mode, which didn't help. What setting adjusts this? Is something the add-ons do? Also, I'm using Blender version 2.93. Thanks. EDIT: In case anyone else is struggling with hard to read handles, this is what I did: I uninstalled 2.93 and installed the latest version and made sure I was using Light Mode. That didn't do anything. I went into Edit > Preferences > Interface > Line Width > Thick. That's made things much more readable. It produces an appearance similar to this video.
@kchow187911 ай бұрын
@marcelthevirginian1656, Hi, Regarding the handles thickness, I find that you can adjust the Preferences > Themes > 3D Viewport > Edge Width to make the handles thicker. If you have not find out already.

do you use the old blender?
@christopher3d4759 ай бұрын
No, it's the Light Blender Theme. It was the most current version of Blender at the time of recording. Bezier curves show up better in the light theme for tutorials.

@christopher3d475 Жыл бұрын
In Edit mode, use the Curve Pen tool to add a point where you want the curve cut (Control click to add point). With that new point selected, press N to bring up sidebar options. In Edit tab --> Curve Edit panel, select Split at Vertex.

Dude, you posted this video 9 months ago, why are you not updating your blender version.... nobody is using this old version anymore
@christopher3d47510 ай бұрын
IF YOU HAD LOOKED CLOSELY, you would have noticed it was the most current version of Blender at the time I recorded it (3.5 or 3.6) but I was using the BLENDER LIGHT THEME, because bezier curves and curves in general show up better for tutorials than the standard dark theme.

Incredibly complex piece of overkill when compared to how other software tools treat vectors.
@locked0111 ай бұрын
It is a beautifully made tutorial. But coming from Rhino, this is my idea of hell. Blender is so complicated, especially in managing things like bezier that makes me wanna puke whilst having a head-splitting headache
@yablatibluАй бұрын
Blender has robust curve tools? lol best joke on the internet, blender curve tools are a complete joke, you can't even merge vertices, you need to convert to a mesh merge and convert back to curve this create a slew of problems, blender curves are missing many other BASIC features you can find in most 3D apps, blender curves are not robust at all, quite the contrary
@thespacecowboy4206 ай бұрын
all the options are different. blender is designed so nobody can learn it because every tutorial is always old and unfollowable.
