You can actually model the bottom half, delete the top faces, mirror everything on the z axis and then merge overlapping vertices and save some time.

I have to ask mostly because i forgot how to haha but when you take the loop cuts and move them apart how do you do that?

@@waldyeti3744 sorry caught up with college, but I think something you can do is loop cut, and after you have the amount of loop cuts (I noticed it really only works well with even numbers or especially 2), press S to scale and then x, y , or z.
