Blending basecoat paint and lacquer clear coat without a spray booth car painting - how to DIY!

Here we show how to paint and more importantly blend silver basecoat in to existing paint.
This is a car painting tutorial that will give you walk you through the paint and lacquer stages to help you to achieve the results at home without the use of a bodyshop, a spraybooth or a home made spray booth / diy spray booth. There was no body filler used on this vehicle.
Using the methods shown in this video you will be able to repair your car and achieve an invisible repair with no difference between the original finish and your finished spray job.
We carry out these jobs without a spray booth / home made spray booth to replicate the conditions you will face when doing repairs at home in a garage or on a driveway.

Toronto Canada..Im getting ready to paint a door and bottom of rear quarter on my mustang...I was going to try to blend the clear edge above the rear wheel well with blender....Now im not so sure.. it may be too large an area

It’s possible to do for sure but a blend like that largely depends on confidence and prep. Also depending on what colour the car is can have a drastic difference on how much of the blend can be seen if any, But I always say if you are unsure even slightly then just scuff the rest of the panel and clear it. The time it will take to do that compared to the time it can take to rectify an issue with a massive blend will be minimal bud, if I’m honest I only blend if I absolutely have to nowadays 👍👍

Hey Phil, we didn’t need to polish this one as it goes, it came out super clean which was a nice change, as far as the black widow goes it seems a fantastic bit of kit we don’t get it in that form over here it’s branded as something different but I have used it’s uk equivalent and for a DIY job it would be ideal and from what I remember it seems a nice all round gun so you could if needed use it for all stages of the job, awesome to know you are watching from aus 👍👍 anything else at all mate feel free to ask

@@custombodyrepairAt the moment im using a Prona Spray Gun R-4300 it does ok but of course would like less overspray as do little jobs in the Garage what would you recommend,Look forward to more clips big help indeed cheers guys hope you don't mind my questions from time to time.

@@Snip59 not at all mate we welcome any questions, our whole mission on the channel is to help people who want to learn more about the trade and carry out work on their own projects etc, as for guns for less overspray you could explore some of the mini guns on the market depending on the size of the jobs you are doing, I’ve done plenty of full repaints with mini guns but it takes some work so ideally you’ll want I use them for say 1-4 panels ish, if you were doing a side for instance you’d be ok with a mini gun, some of the best by far are the devilbiss Sri pro lite, with the right set up these are incredible and can be had fairly cheap online or on eBay now, the sata 4400 is a good shout too, it depends on how much you want to spend also as something like the devilbiss DV1 s is insane but really on the pricey side, ANI have just launched a compact version of the f160 I use for clear, the big one is amazing for the price point and the new compact one is only around £100 here and should be available by mid April, I’m not sure if you can buy from spray guns direct where you are but if you can they are brilliant and the prices are never beaten and finally the Sagola mini extreme is awesome and at around £250 is really fairly priced also so those are some you could check out, I’m going to try and get a few guns together and do a big comparison video soon so hopefully that might give you a steer in the right direction 👍
