Buy the way, sometimes I do something similar but with other libraries, this is a good way to get natural sound for your string section. As for me, if I’ll get the BBS symphonic orchestra I not sure that I’ll mix them, you can achieve so quality sounds using only this tool…but from the other hand, CSS give me feel more studio sound, BBS - one of the best music hall and my favourite orchestra…I guess it’s a real reason to blend them and it’s sounds really good 👍

There's a way like this! It's a good experiment!

Really informative video Tom, I really enjoyed. I have BBC SO Pro and just picked up CSS, so can't wait to try blending them like this. I see you're using the LUXE plugin, I was looking into this also, do you use it primarily for extra sheen on the high frequencies for strings. Klevgrand also have a Pana plugin (similar to Panbox) - do you find the Panning plugins a real benefit for positioning instruments? Thanks, G

Glad it was helpful, thanks for watching! I use LUXE quite subtly; just for some nice harmonics/distortion to help them cut through the mix. I use Panbox but ONLY when I'm using close mics/signals - you don't want to pan whole rooms, it'll make the instruments sound rather odd. Thanks for tuning in!

Sounds awesome! Effective and elegant... That is, as long as your parts aren't moving much or very fast, at which point the variable CSS legato latency becomes an issue. I have and love BBCSO and CSS but with bigger more complex pieces, I would never have time to layer like this. Which is why I invested in VSL"s Duality Strings which does all the layering set up for you out of the box.
