Melanie, I had no idea how many techniques you can use in pbns! You are an awesome teacher and explain everything in detail...I will definitely use the blending techniques in the future...I love pbns and I do them for fun, and they are meditative and relaxing. Above all,I have ADD and they make me FOCUS!!! Thank You so much for your videos and I hope you feel better soon

I didn’t know either until I started painting them and recording videos. There is a tutorial for everything. I owe it to my “fans” who are always requesting new techniques! A few months ago, I was afraid I’d run out of things to reach, but nope! The ideas keep coming to me, or someone makes a suggestion, and it keeps me busy. 🥰

Oh My Goodness, you are sooo right; it is Brilliant! Kudos to you for giving credit to the originator. As a newbie who has gathered all the supplies you recommend and my canvas, I’m rewatching some of your vids to get my courage up to start. Love your teaching.

Thank you so much! I use this technique for so many of my blending methods now…even tiny areas on skin blending. I hope you continue to find my videos helpful through your PBN journey, and if you haven’t already, be sure to join my FB group. There is a lot of helpful information there and I have a wonderful, supportive group of members also!

Thank you so much! I have been isolated since early March; but my husband has continued to work an essential job, so of course I’ll get whatever he brings home. I am feeling better now, so it looks like there is improvement on the horizon! ☺️

My only comment after this video, other than thanking you for the great tips and friendly teaching, is to let you know that I need a break from the Playlist because I need a break from your theme song. It is great in the intro, it is great to fill quiet time when you are not talkimg and demoing something, but when you also play it in the background while you are talking thru the entire video it becomes this repetitive videogame jingle that I just want to stop. Many peeople may not realize why they are are changing channels, its like wanting the radio station to play a new song. You have a great theme song. I don't know if this info is helpful. I thought you might like the feedback. Thank you for what you do!

That music is so relaxing...I was editing a new video the other night (a “Paint with Me” one), and I was falling asleep from the music I was adding. 😂 I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or a bad thing. 🤣

I'm a "newie" to PBN. I find your videos VERY informative. You're a very good instructor. I'd always been "crafty", but I never got to paint until I saw Donna Dewberry! I've never stopped.You're right, if you have an "artistic" bent, you want to make it look "better". I certainly hope you take care of yourself and start to feel better. Thank you for your very informative videos. BTW, I've been using the floating medium instead of water and that seems to help.
@MelanieBsCreativeStudio4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the kind words! It’s funny that you said floating medium, because after watching one of Donna Dewberry’s videos to refresh my memory on the loading of the brush before I did my blending videos, I noticed she used floating medium. I used to have some, but it would be 25 years old now. 😂 But that is something I thinking I’m going to pick up, although it may be the same as something I have already but just under a different name.

Mine is about 4 years old. Each time I'd go to clean out my paints, it still seemed fine. It could be a cheap alternative for people to try? I'm a mixed media artist and there is such a huge difference between "craft" and "art" supplies. I still have almost all of my One Stroke guides & books. Anyone who never thought they could "paint" needs to still pick up her technique. It opened up a whole new world for me and I've never looked back! I noticed you've also done some chalk paint videos. I used to work with this lady in Cleveland, Ohio. She has a company called Coco Chalky Paints that's a powder additive you can add to any latex/acrylic paint to give it a chalk paint texture/working time. I've even used it in metallic paint and as a white gesso when I ran out. She has a KZbin channel under that name. Part of every purchase goes towards her "pay it forward" foundation that does work with at risk youth, mentoring them towards art, etc. I've worked with a lot of chalk paints and her additive ranks up there some of the expensive brands. I've used it on furniture & art pieces. If you get a chance, check her out! Thanks again!

Thank you very helpful melanie. What about if doing a landscape blending the sky and clouds? have you done any of those ?
@MelanieBsCreativeStudio4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I do them the same as I did in Part 1. I used the one-stroke method and blended out what is supposed to be the sky in the background. You can use this technique over and over to get it the way you want it to look. ☺️

Thank you for your videos. They are wonderfully helpful. I am currently doing a couple of winter scenes(snowmen and snowy backgrounds). Is there a way to blend your edges as you go? Because of the type of picture I'm doing, it would be almost like painting the picture twice to go back and blend after the painting is complete.
@MelanieBsCreativeStudio4 жыл бұрын
I always tell people, “There is a method to my madness.” I do blending at the end, for several reasons. 1) Not everything needs to be blended. Until the piece is done and you look at it from 3 feet away, you won’t know where it needs to be blended. 2) You will work twice as hard and use twice as much paint if you do it as you go. 3) You need a base color to blend.

Thank you for sharing your art. I got my first ever PBN in the mail, and I had not noticed I picked such a hard one. IE ... a lot of extremely small spaces. So I am looking for help where I can find it. On another note I hope your test had come back negative.
@MelanieBsCreativeStudio4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching! Yes, my COVID-19 test did come back negative, but I have had so much trouble since then with recurring cough 😷 and fever, that I’m convince my test was one of the 30% false negatives. It was April when I had it, so right at the beginning of rapid tests, and the doctors tested me s as if I had it even with a negative result...like with medications, etc. I still lose my voice a lot, so I will be getting the antibody blood test when I am able to see a doctor again. Thank you for asking! 🥰

Going to start my first PBN. I got all the supplies. Do I varnish the canvas when done? If yes which one. I am going to be using acrylic colors.
@MelanieBsCreativeStudio4 жыл бұрын
Sealing your painting is completely optional. You can use a non-yellowing varnish, but most people use an acrylic spray sealer. I keep planning to do a video on this subject, but I have had so much going on that I haven’t done it yet.

Which PBN Company do you order from? Have you found some better than others?
@MelanieBsCreativeStudio4 жыл бұрын
Rinky Giri Some of the ones I usually have trusted and bought from have been struggling since the pandemic outbreak. So, I haven’t ordered from them lately. A few I still trust and use are MasterpiecebyNumbers.com here in the US, PaintPlot.com, PaintbyNumbers.shop, and for now that’s all I can think of that I trust.
