Blew The Motor In My GT28r Jetta! (2021 Channel Update)

Ended the year 2020 with a literal bang. Not the greatest year for me. Hopefully 2021 will be the comeback! Looking forward to getting into bigger things. Stay tuned!

Nope, bone stock internals. Just upgraded turbo kit.

@@VdubInParadiseoh that's why. You have my condolences. I also staged my 1.8t and first thing i did was change the stock headgasket with one that some tuners offer for lowering compression ratio. Seems the issue with the stock rods is they bend after a while after increasing your air pressure on stock comp. ratio (9.6:1). Love your content

I’ve read the same. But most of what I read are from colder climates. In Hawai’i the temps are pretty much warm year round. But we’ll see!

Do you think this was from swapping in the GT28 without doing internals? I'm in the early stages of trying to swap out my stock turbo on the same model VW. I've read you don't have to do internals but after seeing this i'm leaning way more towards it. LMK what you think

If its true that the rod snapped then yeah the stock internals couldn't handle the power, but it was a first gear pull and he probably beat on the car for 2 years, as long as you have a trusty tuner and dont beat on the car you should be fine. just my opinion tho, just my knowledge from forums xDD

I got aeg bottom end that I'm putting a 1.8t head on, that way don't have to bore the block to make it a 2.0.

@@VdubInParadise yea it's a expensive build, plus this isn't even my main motor that I'm building. I'm building one with eagle rods, weisco pistons, king bearings, all arp hardware, supertech valve train and not sure on cams yet. The Frankenstein build is a project that probably going to be at least a year down the road because we're it's so expensive I pretty much have to get some parts that aren't very common and heart they're hard to get I had to go through Co Motorsports for a lot of stuff

Hey i have a 2003 gti 1.8t....its automatic.. i was wondering if anyone had the same issue. The car runs good but when i want to got to dsg mode the shifter wont engage likebitll shify over but i can control the shifts it doesnt show up on my dash either. Hey man I have a couple questions for you bout my mk4 gli.... it was having a problem with a misfire I was driving and it just shut off the starter turns the flywheel but the motor does nothing.... do you have any idea what could’ve happened???

I would do a compression test on it, had an old Camaro do the same thing, starter turned the motor but it never wanted to run, at least smoothly. Turns out I didn't have compression in 2 of my cylinders

he did on maestro xD which is probs why it blew lol. didn't seem like he got the tune perfect he said the computer correcting fuel differences up to 10% is fine lol but most good tuners will dial it in without o2 correction..... so its always good

On how much hp? Those use to brake on trans internal diff bolts/needles cuz too weak after stage 2 or 3 also 1 going rough. There's an upgrade diff for that

the only way you do that is rodknock. my car has a 62mm RS6 CHRA and ive never done more than bending a rod from fuel hydrolock due to an injector sticking open. im 10 years deep in this car. i have stock rods from an AEB/058 1997-1999 A4 (the rods are bigger and have bigger hardware).... i dont think you can make more power on a stock platform 1.8L. if you have rods coming out the block you didnt build it enough for the turbo. IE bottom end blancing and clearance

I blew my MK4 VR6 last year too..... what kinda ish is that? Now my project GTI just became my main car. I noticed u have the sequential repeaters. I have those as well, but I also swapped the mirrors over to the mk5 style an added sequential leds in that as well, also bigger mirrors. I think the Jetta needs retrofits. I'll gladly help u, check me on insta @emperor_kain, I've done a lot of custom work, on both my MK4' now. I just do it for the love. Maybe I can help u further your build which is coming along nicely.
