Hmm If I remember Steven isnt rlly champion in Emerald, Wallace is the champion in the game and no it isnt a champion theme, its a FREAKING RIVAL THEME!!!

This theme represents a battle between you and those the player deems as a rival, aka your counterpart that traveled on an adventure with you and Steven, an ex-champion since he is on your level after all. All Steven did was give his position to Wallace, a close friend of his. He wasn’t forced to retire or anything. Plus, with you-the player-being the new champion, and Steven being on Champion level himself, it makes sense. Not officially a champ theme, but for those “in the group” I suppose

(The Team Aqua/Magma Grunt battle and the Leader battle, the Weather Trio battle, the Regi Trio battle, the Elite Four battle, the Champion battle, the Deoxys battle, and the Frontier Brain battle.)
