Blind Cartridge comparison. You choose which one sounds better, Lyra Delos or Denon DL 110

Vote for which sounds better, A, B or no difference at all.
I'll reveal the identities of the cartridges at a later date.

I hear distortion with both, but that might be the record. I don’t know what the price differences are but if it’s significant it’s not worth it. I listened through headphones without looking at the screen, the splicing of recordings gave the change from A-B away more than the audio quality did for me.

I think B is more for me, but i like A too. The difference is not big imo, ofc youtube compresses a bit.

A won, I thought it was a difficult matter because what the Lyra gives in the high range, it takes away from its low tone, so B because of the more lovable warm sound.

Update. I took Lyra Delos to audition at my home and it sounds different than in this video, without any harshness. I think I will buy this cartridge now.

It's almost surprising how relatively small an improvement the Lyra Delos gives you for a pretty significant difference in price. It's definately the more defined and detailed, and has way beyond average weight and solidity. I guess this pricey Avid turntable can display the limits of these cartridges, and the Delo's are definately a bit higher. I wonder if the improvement would be less or more evident on a basic Pro-ject or Technics table.

I've owned an Avid Acutus (2 of them actually) and the Avid is a little soft sounding top and bottom compared to the SL1200GR. I took the arm off the Acutus and now have it mounted on the SL1200 and that's the better sounding setup I'll keep, I don't know about the Project, but even on the stock SL1200 you'd hear a difference.

A has more highs, but the highs are a bit dicey sounding. Which one costs less and tracks at lowest gram would be my choice.

A has a shrillness and sounds too hot. I don't like it. It sounds slightly overdriven. What is the phono pre for each cartridge?

The phono stage used was an Avid Pulsus. If I remember right, when I made this video, it was fresh back from a rebuild. Check out one of my recent needledrop videos and see it you still consider it harsh after quite a bit of break in.
