My oldest son, he's 33 now, is truly a phenomenal guitarist. He told me back probably 10 years ago, I don't really remember exactly what band we were listening to but he said basically "these guys aren't that great I can play all of this stuff" and I said ok true enough you can play it, now where you've written a piece of music and 40 years later kids are bragging that they can play it, get back to me

Stevie Winwood was, as you've probably checked by now, an all-around musician who played an assortment of instruments and voted #33 in the top 100 singers by Rolling Stone. My favorite was 'Low Spark of High Heeled Boys', when he was with Traffic. It's a long amazingly mellow bluesy and jazzy number.

A beautiful song. Blind Faith were a supergroup that only put out one album: Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, Steve Winwood, and Rick Grech. Winwood was the vocalist on this track - he'd started with Spencer Davis Group and recorded some other wonderful songs with Traffic (try their "No Face No Name No Number" and "Dear Mr Fantasy") and also had a long solo career. I cover this song sometimes at my gigs - I only hope I do it justice.

One of my all-time favorite songs - always in the rotation. Steve Winwoods contribution to the music landscape is very underrated. Watching him and just a guitar fireside singing this shows his true pure talent. That he was in Traffic and had a solo career is just gravy!

Music that makes you feel. Music you do not dance to but rather sit back and enjoy. It was the best era to grow up in. I hope someone finds a way to bring it back, but with music sources so fragmented today and the easy way songs can be copied perfectly by anyone means it probably will never happen. It's all Taylor Swift-like shit today. Enjoy the old stuff. Let the music play.
