I was at this event, right at the front on a park bench with a few friends and some cider; It was a highlight in my life. Never forget it. Good time.

Outstanding. I'm so delighted for you. This is a special event. I'm so glad someone saw the value of recording it! What a beautiful location. You can close your eyes and still be there in spirit! 🎉

Only 45 comments here. "Means to an End" is great 👍 I'm enjoying this one. Eric's playing is superb.

@cutis1000 To be fair, they did this concert with a limited repertoire. Their album (not sure if it was even released yet) had just 6-8 songs, so they had to fill the rest of the time doing covers (Under My Thumb, Means to an End, etc.). Not sure if they even had a lot of time to rehearse for the show. Would be tough for anyone to go out and nail everything on the first pull. The videos from the show are true history since they lasted just a few months

I really don't believe that I'm reading all of the comments in relation to the "Clapton is God" or how Winwood was not as good or bla,bla,. This has been going on since 68' at least! They were ALL fucking SUPERSTARS and musical genius' when you try to compare who was the best, you really can't. Look at how many people we grew up with from Jimi to Alvin Lee, Rory Gallagher to Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton (my first concert) and Kim Simmonds. Johnny & Edgar, Duane Allman Mark Bolin or Tommy Bolen (how ever the spelling) T-REX, Robin Trower, Ted Nugent. Grand Funk, Led Zep, Stones! Keith Richards! FUCK. This list is endless and I never even touched on drummers! I could keep adding names for the next two days & not cover em' all. Look @ how many are gone way too soon, STEVIE, JANIS, JIMI, DUWANE, MORRISON, RORY. Mark Farner was wicked! In this day & age can ANY of your kids fav music stars all crammed together in one lame looking Justin Beeber hairdo even come close to the raw fuckin' tallent of just one of these gods & I said "plural" that we grew up listening to? Even if it was sometimes just for a short stay on this earth to shre thier amazing gift of music with us. We should be happy we got what we did and just savor guitar work like ANGUS or JACK WHITE. The voices of Bonnie Rait, Maria Muldar or CHRIS YOULDEN of SAVOY BROWN. There are some very tallented performers out there JOE BONNIMASSA but not like back then, Bonnimassas' only come around now & then. That's pushin' it cause he is a god as well. ANYWAY. . . Did I make my point? Treasure the gift they put here for us to enjoy while we've got em' because I'd bet money there is'nt another boat load of that calliber coming all at once for a long. . .er, never is a good bet. Everything I'm listening to today is kind of like my motorcycle, LOUD & GOOD!

2:42 onward is the perfect example of Clapton's "God Status". He goes everywhere and makes it work with such subtle ease. Winwood ends on a bad note, but otherwise brilliant!
@natecorning7 жыл бұрын
winwood doesnt end on a bad note. The ending was clearly botched by the Cream members who werent as familiar with this song. This was written by Steve. The pitch was correct, the rhythm and timing not so much

Clapton is using a telecaster with a Strat neck on it whats up with that
@jr132273 жыл бұрын
With fenders you can swap out necks because they’re bolt on and some fit with others. Eric must’ve just liked to feel or tone of the strat one better. I believe this is the neck from his brownie strat.

@RayNDeere Yes, that's correct. The record was not out yet and this was their first live performance. They had been rehearsing for months, but that was really the process of forming the band and creating the songs, rather than honing their playing together. Their repertoire was so limited that in other shows they resorted to playing Cream songs, which Clapton disliked because star-struck audiences would applaud even for sub-par renditions. The same thing happened here, even w/o the Cream songs.
