written and originally sung by Mississippi bluesman Sam Myers, who played drums with Elmore James and sung with Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets. Sam said he never performed the song himself because he never saw a penny of royalties from other artists recording it.

Never understood why he didn't play the Telecaster more often. It has more punch than a Strat but has that Fender open sound. He sounds great here.
@garrisonic
@garrisonic 5 жыл бұрын
If you knew anything about his guitar choices during certain parts of his career, you would know that this is a rare Fender appearance of any kind. He was playing almost exclusively Gibson up to this period. Strats would come along later and (IMHO) be a part of the slide and degradation of his playing overall.

The pseudo "trippy" camera work comes from those who edited it I believe, not necessarily the cameraman. It was when they took this footage back to their studio and tried to simulate the drug effect with all those quick cuts.

Looks fine to me. Lots of different shots keeps it immediate. The editing is a bit quaint but it is of its time. This isn't a television production but shot on film, so all the editing decisions taken weeks later. There would not have been a director in contact with all of the camera operators. They would be working very much on their own. The Cream Farewell Concert was a TV production and the person directing the vision mixer should have been shot. It is unwatchable because somebody is trying to be wacky and fashionable. I don't know why people are saying 'terrible camera work as usual back then.' The Maysles Brothers, Michael Wadleigh and the likes of DA Pennebaker made some good music documentaries in those days.

@@Funkkyanite After the 60s, Clapton became a more well rounded player and singer. However, as a blues guitarist he is just average now. Many people can play rings around him when back in the day no one could touch him. Buddy Wittington for one.. His playing and solos are boring with no fire... From the cradle shows his weakness. Yes, he plays OK acoustic when he didn't in Mayall, Cream, Bind Faith and D and D. I suggest you listen to the 60s Clapton again...

I must comment on the lyrics ..... "little girl" I'll give you all my money everything i own, well moi just wishes that could speak with eric, steve , Rick and ginger to that point because they are wanting to trade a monetary value for something that is PRICELESS. the company of a woman does not necessarily equate, from a females logic to the least common denomenator, some women actually have no thought or care for remuneration. they just want to give and receive love. that is all, bottom line. I saw the man of my youth and heard his pleas ok then sit on hands so you know that no new words how strange. how did loves get changed to lives without a capital I have been asked to do with my. not gonna talk until vous can give new original words understood. OK, sldc

yes, i am aware the nature of this song. however, i waz in an ongoing conversation with someone that had referred me to this song and well, the conversation waz regarding relationships and whether or not i would be content with lifes bare necessities or settle for someone that would be desirous of all the wealth equal to that which could be offered by someone as wealthy as say anyone from BLIND FAITH. but, there are women that would enter a relationship just because of celebrity and/or wealth. to the point of this song is that the offerer doesn't want to be abandoned to that end if the money offered doesn't work then the grave is where the offerer wants his "little girl" therefore he leaves before her if offers fail. i understand that this waz a convoluted way to explain, i just hope the recipient of the previous statement understood there waz no desire on my part as to any either social or economic advantage that either could or could not be offered. thanx, tho for your input and might i suggest you view ERIC CLAPTON LIVE at FILLMORE WEST 1989. IT IS AN AWESOME BLUEZ NIGHT AND THE LAST SONG IS VERY RELEVANT TO WHAT HAD PREVIOUSLY GONE ON IN THE WORLD IN REGARD TO HIS PERSONAL LIFE. BEYOND THAT, HAVE A HAPPY, SAFE & PROSPEROUS NEW 2017 YEAR!!! LATER MAN, THE 📒PAD🏡 SLD😆 this 🐇's outta here ↘picked theze↙ ↘for you↙ 🌾🌺🌾

@Mike The Bike well I can't argue what you like best. You are untitled to like whatever moves you. If we are talking technique, than early Clapton is light years better blueswise. For pure emotion, not technical skill alone, a few of my favorite blues rock (not modern rock like Satch, Vai, Johnson, Gilbert etc) Is ZZ Top Rough Boy (live in Texas) Mountain/Leslie West Theme from an Imaginary Western, and more of a rock solo, Moanjam, Kings X ( album vers.) Any solo off Jeff Beck's TRUTH album esp. Let Me Love You. Not blues, but Jimi playing the then untitled Vilinova Junction at Woodstock most spontaneous version. and of course, if we are not talking long solos. The best of all is Jimi's solo on Manic Depression lp vers. This just of the top of my head of blues based rock solos. I could be missing a few.
