Musicians that can make an actual living off of their music can rightfully call themselves good musicians. But musicians that can inspire an audience of 80.000 people so much that they, as one, sing their songs for them, well, those musicians can rightfully call themselves LEGENDS.

The most memorable moment was a Wacken Festival that Blind Guardian wasn't there. The Bard's Song was played briefly on the video wall and 70,000 people suddenly stopped, paused and began to sing the song. Complete. Only then did everyone go their own way again. That was magical.

Yeah, Wacken is pretty cool. Though I wasn't going there at that time anymore. However, Blind Guardian is one of Germanys greatest and best metal bands in general, and Powermetal in particular (somehow, we have many Powermetal bands here). Actually, in the german metal community 'The Bard's Song' is a classic, everybody knows it (even those who really hate Power/Symphonic/Melodic/and similar metal), and you hear that song being sung a capella on the camping grounds pretty often (as often as someone playing the neverending 'Cantina Song', which is a story for another time). Also, did you notice how many microphones they had there? In this band, everyone is a supporting backing vocalist, except the drummer.
