Musicians that can make an actual living off of their music can rightfully call themselves good musicians. But musicians that can inspire an audience of 80.000 people so much that they, as one, sing their songs for them, well, those musicians can rightfully call themselves LEGENDS.

The most memorable moment was a Wacken Festival that Blind Guardian wasn't there. The Bard's Song was played briefly on the video wall and 70,000 people suddenly stopped, paused and began to sing the song. Complete. Only then did everyone go their own way again. That was magical.

Stages and Sound ist quiet good for an open field, the guys know how to do it.. it's this special feeling you can't really describe.. no explanation, no expectation can really tell you how it is... i met people from around the world who spend a year worth of savings just to be there.. i thank god its just a 5 hour trip for me \,,/

@@domyare6932 I myself have never been to Wacken for health reasons, but several of my buddies try to get there every time. They love the atmosphere and the music and now have friends there from several countries (one of them tries to learn Spanish because of that). They try to meet them there as often as possible. They have at least never had a bad experience there, but are thrilled that so many metalheads just want to peacefully celebrate together and listen to music.

@@jamesnewcomb9834 Add Time Stands Still and Mirror MIrror and skip the "from that album", cause I´d say, IMHO, that these songs are gems of the genre itself. They have everything, complexity, changing tempo and rythms, raw sound, vocals from whispers to Hansi´s best rock voice in high notes, heavy guitars and folk tenderness all mixed in one symphonic package, without unnecessary shredding race topped with lyrics that just make it really difficult to be a BG fan and to remember them to sing along on concerts :-D

This band is one of the first Powermetal-Bands, founded in 1984 in Germany. Their texts are influenced by fantasy-books like Lord of the Rings and old nordic and germanic lore. Ballads and Power-Ballads are a staple of european powermetal and this makes all those bands very diverse.

Yeah, Wacken is pretty cool. Though I wasn't going there at that time anymore. However, Blind Guardian is one of Germanys greatest and best metal bands in general, and Powermetal in particular (somehow, we have many Powermetal bands here). Actually, in the german metal community 'The Bard's Song' is a classic, everybody knows it (even those who really hate Power/Symphonic/Melodic/and similar metal), and you hear that song being sung a capella on the camping grounds pretty often (as often as someone playing the neverending 'Cantina Song', which is a story for another time). Also, did you notice how many microphones they had there? In this band, everyone is a supporting backing vocalist, except the drummer.
