What a nice reaction to one of my favourite bands. The language is German indeed. Wacken takes place in Northern Germany (80 km (or 50 miles?) northwest of Hamburg) and as Blind Guardian is a German band that has been at this festival several times, most people in the audience know the band and their songs. The Bards Song is like a hymn to Wacken visitors. Some even say, that you are not allowed to enter the "Holy Ground" (the infield with the main stages) if you don't know the lyrics to this song. The band was founded in 1984 as a speed metal band but changed their style and are now counting as one of the pioneers of power metal. As a Tolkien fan I bought their album "Nightfall in Middle-Earth" (inspired by J.R.R. Tolkiens book "The Silmarillion"), which was my very first metal album and became a fan of BG immediately. Like Tuomas from Nightwish who is nicknamed "Metal Mozart" because of his compositions, Hansi Kürsch (singer) from BG is nicknamed "The Bard" because of is storytelling. In my opinion he has one of the best male voices in metal.

Well.. this is a hymn in Germany and Europe. Most Metalheads know it by heart here. And Wacken.. yeah.. it's the Holy Ground of Metal. And I was there in 2016 chanting happily with everyone.

5:40 bro, what you are missing is wacken is like a pigrimage spot for most metal fans. sure, majority is from europe but there are thousands coming from both side of american continent, asia, australia etc so during the festival they communicate in english, booze and wall of death mostly. and most central/western europeans can speak english but it's not about that. i'm turkish and i don't speak no german, swedish, russian or finnish but i have songs in all these languages in my head. and this song is an anthem of metalheads, you might meet people that doesn't know the band's name but memorised this song lol

Best Power Metal Band there is! Best Power Metal Vocalist there is! Hansi is a god, to whom I listen roundabout 30 years now and I still just can`t stop listening to him. But listening to him in a live vid is not comparable to really see him and this great band live!

Great reaction. If you wish to continue your Blind Guardian journey, I suggest Nightfall live from Wacken 2011, or And The Story Ends live at Oberhausen 2016, or both!!!!! They are killer songs with great crowd participation. Nightfall is the title track from their album Nightfall in Middle Earth, which is based on Tolkien's book The Silmarillion.

Actually its an international crowd. I think thats why they sing along and of course many of them just read the lyrics :3 It has nothing to do with where you're from. If you like the song you want to sing along.

This Blind Guard clip is one of the best clips like this of any band out there. Funny crowd suffering story, well funniest ever. I was at Ozzfest back in 2003. And we were in the pit. And there were a bunch of crowd suffers. There were these two women who were umm noticeable for obvious but unmentioned reasons. SO that's why we all saw this happen. Anyway for those who have never been in a pit, there is a sort of rhythm to it, where it moves at certain flows and patterns. If you looked at it overhead its kind of like a school of fish. So periodically certain gaps would open and close... and just as one big gap shot open again, these two women that we were all...umm observing carefully, you know for their umm health were launched into the opening. They collided like plains crashing together in mid air and plummeted around 6 to 8 feet to the ground on asphalt. It was glorious in a horror movie sort of way. To those two women's credit, they got up, high fived one another, hugged each other and went right back to crowd surfing (I was one of the ladders for the shorter blond one). Those were 2 kick ass women. And it was a great show.

Wasnt there already a reaction to this video? I am pretty sure! Hmmm... 🤔 Either way, every german kid learns english in school for at least 3-4 years. lots of them even longer. So yes... we all can sing in english. I can even sing some russian or spanish songs, although I never learned a word in that language at all. If you heared a song 1000 times its not that difficult...

As long, as there is no real reason to learn another language, you just don't do it. I can totally comprehend it. It would be senseful to teach spanish in the US, tho. At least at the southern border and especially Florida. Imo
