🛹👨🏽‍🦯 Blind guy slams on Tony Hawks vert ramp

🛹👨🏽‍🦯 June 16, 2022 was a dream come true, even though I did not land it @tonyhawk gave me the opportunity to come in while he gave me pointers to try and drop in on his legendary 13ft vert ramp. I had really no prior experience but I knew it was something I really wanted to try.

The main word I could use to describe going to do this, was terrified. The thought of dropping in on it haunted me so bad that I would actually get anxiety just thinking about it. Because of that I knew it was something I had to overcome, after about an hour or so of pumping around and feeling comfortable I knew it was time. Stepping on the top of the ramp I had butterflies even though I could not see the bottom I knew I was high up, I could just feel it. As I aligned my board I told myself no matter what I am going to do this because I want to get over the fear, with the Birdman, GOAT skateboarder, my hero, my friend next to me that’s exactly what I did. I immediately forgot everything I was just taught and sent it-not the best way to do it but I went for it.

Like I said even though I did not land it, overcoming that fear was very powerful for me, giving me confidence to do many things moving forward. I cannot wait to get back to the ramp and stick the drop in, I love skateboarding for this reason, it helps me get over, things I’ve never thought I could do and then translating over into life. Fall 49 times and get up 50. Thank you Tony Hawk you are the man! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to try!

That inspires me so much, I am lucky to have my sight, given it is not great without glasses or contacts, and I have struggled to commit to a smaller drop on mtb. Put me to shame. No fear 🙌🤜
