Had to make a camera adjustment mid song so sorry about the awkward slice in the middle. Filmed at the Double Door, Chicago 10/16/2007. Also words from Travis and Nel

Shannon passed 20 years ago yesterday, and I just stumbled across this. I saw Blind Melon 10/12/93 opening for Lenny Kravitz. Shannon held the crowd in his hand and We couldn't take our eyes off of him, and he was such a beautiful and magnetic presence onstage. We named our second child Shannon with him in mind. He IS a kindred spirit, and I miss his energetic joy. RIP, Shannon Hoon

I love this clip so much!!! Thank you for sharing this gem!! Shannon Hoon and Blind Melon gave me hope when the sun didnt shine, when I only wanted to be 16 and free..... and taught me it was okay to dance in the rain, showed me that even I play a part in tomorrow.... even though we can't all stay here forever.... he gave me a gift he gave us all a gift, and through his words and energy, he left me wonderin.... why did you leave us so soon?...... and so I say good byyye.... Love you Shannon Hoon!!!!Great job Nico...... My husband died from cancer when our daughter was 4 days old nearly 13 years ago... this clip warmed my heart but did bring on the tears a bit ❤️ I wish I could have see Blind Melon live but I am so stoked you got to see his legacy (band and kiddo) here at this show :) peace and good times to all!!!

I don't know who has read weilands ex wife's article in RS but with that article in mind, this is the reason people such as myself look up to musicians who may or may not have lived in accordance to society's standard. Because the music has a powerful message. RIP Shannon

Nico, I think your daddy would be proud. This song is one of my all time faves. The lyrics are so in your face and raw, it's just an incredible song. Shannon was an amazing songwriter, and I really could relate to him and where he was coming from. It was a very sad day in rock -n- roll history when he went to heaven. We miss him very much. Even though he's gone, the music will live on in our hearts eternally. Hope to see you out there singin' some day, Nico.

You are correct. She was absolutely not forced to do this in anyway shape or form. In fact I asked her after the show if she had been nervous. Her eyes lit up and she said yes, but it was very obvious to me and everyone else there that she also had the time of her life. It was just a very special evening in the history of the band. IMO.

This is really something. I've listened to this song for 15+ years and it's marked my life, for better or worse. Seeing Shannon Hoon's kid sing it reminds me how old I am and how many years have passed. Still, it makes me wonder, about life, about love, about change.

Thank you, Nico, for this, and thank you for the contribution your Dad made to my hard times, and my misunderstanding of true music appreciation before hearing their work. I feel his talent was far and above many then, and even more now. His voice guided a decade, and that decade included me. Thank you, thanks Shannon.

I’ve been a HUGE BM fan since the first time I saw the video for the song “I wonder” on tv here in Canada. After the video was over, my buddy and I walked down to the record store and bought the CD. At the time I had a six disc changer and that one didn’t leave the rotation for about 2-3 years. Tones of home, I wonder, Change of course was an instant fav. Also sleepy house and really the entire album. Even no rain…but only like twice🤫 After that day, I was a fan for life! I was 15 years old at the time and just learning how to play guitar. I recently got back into them about a year ago through KZbin. So many great shows available on here. Woodstock, and of course the much music intimate and interactive. Hell I wish I knew they were going to be playing there in Toronto. I would have made the hour drive for sure. It would have been amazing to be one of the lucky ones to see one of Shannon’s final shows. It broke my heart when that man passed…he was a HUGE part of my teenage years and his music…so pure and original at a time where a lot of shit was cookie cutter. Sorry about the long ass post, just brings back a lot of feelings from almost 30 years ago😢

He loved her so much. Listen to the Q&A at 38:00 & 39:49 during this recording from about a little over a month before he died. He had every intention of making himself better and being a good father. Addiction is a battle that not everyone can win. That never made him a bad father and he never meant to choose drugs over Nico. He just lost the battle that so many others have also lost. He was still a good man with a good heart. - /watch?v=z_r3jMBJ7CI

no one musician should ever b compared to another alive or in death...one of the few things we have left in this country the freedom to have ur own opinion. shannon, kurt, layne, brad, not to mention the first group of young ones 2 die, janis, jimi, jim. rip 2 all the wonderful musicians out there that creat this beautiful art called music. shannon's lookn down on his daughter so proudly, who wldnt b uncomfrtable there, let alone when ur young&insecure. great job nico!!! @~~
