one of the best parts of this movie was how they fleshed out the family dynamic imo. It just feels so relatable and real. None of that forced drama nonsense in most most movies, or the over the top comedy, its written in a way that feels like something almost every family could relate to

One thing to keep in mind. The Spider-verse is infinite. And Miguel is not going to recruit anyone who disagrees with him. So the Spider Society is kinda self-selected for those who can be swayed by the utilitarian line that Miguel is handing out.

Miguel's inclusion to the big screen is such a a big milestone in the eyes of longtime Spider-Man fans. Miguel was the successor to the Spider-Man mantle from Peter Parker back in the 1990s comics. He was arguably the Spider-Man that really cemented the "anyone can wear the mask" philosophy, all the way back in 1992. He was created to be almost an exact opposite of Peter Parker. He is super serious, his 'jokes' borders on mean-spirited instead of witty, and he will kill if he has to, unlike Peter Parker. Miguel comes from a time period in the Marvel timeline so ruthless that Dr. Doom of all people is considered one of the good guys. Imagine the world of Cyberpunk 2077... and add in superpowered Marvel shenanigans on top of it. It gets kinda messed up.

39:45 what they were saying is that miles in earth-1610 (our miles) was never supposed to be spider-man, since he already had peter parker in that universe (the one that died in the first movie). the spider was from earth-42, where the prowler miles is. prowler miles was supposed to get bitten, but since that spider went to the wrong universe and bit the wrong person, earth-1610’s peter parker died and prowler mile’s universe was left with no spider-man
@thecocoacouch
@thecocoacouch 11 ай бұрын
I actually don’t think Prowler miles was ever meant to be bitten, that spider was meant to bite Peter in that universe. That’s why I think every Miles from every universe eventually becomes Prowler, our Miles is an exception since he got bitten by Peters spider from Earth 42.

@@thecocoacouch i get what you're saying and that could make sense, but canonically that's not the case (lol feels weird using the word canon considering the whole plot of the movie) but earth-42 was supposed to be THE universe where miles morales was spider-man, and earth-42 peter would've probably just been a regular schmegular guy-- like every other dimension where peter parker isn't spider-man. earth-1610 already had a spider-man and a prowler by the time our miles got bitten. the only reason why earth-42 miles ended up becoming the prowler was because the earth-42 spider that was meant for him fell into the wrong dimension and bit the wrong miles, which ultimately resulted in earth-1610 peter parker's death because there can't be more than one spider-man in the same dimension. that's why our miles is considered the first anomaly

29:25 I'd say it's a bit more gray area than that. On one hand, it's literally his job to make sure to save everyone he can, and it's his own dad, so of course it's his responsibility to try and save him. But on the other hand, in a big picture kind of way, saving him means breaking what's supposed to happen and thus risking all of reality to be destroyed. So u can see both of their perspectives, especially when Miguel already went thru that firsthand. I still think, as Spiderman, it's Miles' job to do his best to hopefully find a way to prevent his dad's death without destroying the world. There was a line in this old game edge of time, it went something like "if you let someone die and do nothing you dont understand what it means to be spiderman" which i totally agree with and shows Miles' POV. Whereas the classic "with great power comes great responsibility" comes the other peoples' POV. THey have the power to change their canon events but with that is the responsibility to know and understand that doing so could kill billions of others and that sometimes u gotta make the sacrifice.

Dude, I was completely gutted by that cliffhanger, too. It is an amazing movie and that whole... core of self-actualization hits... very close to home for me, too. Even creeping up on 38 XD Just goes with a lot of what I'm dealing with in life. But yeah, I don't think that Earth 42's Miles is a villain. The crime syndicates basically run this world, and I get the feeling that he's essentially working to undermine them, even without the powers. He's just hardened by everything that he's been through. But we'll see next year.

I feel like the reason all these Spider-people ended up against Miles (mostly referring to his closest friends Peter B and Gwen) is that Miguel kind of manipulated them using the idea of canon events. I don't even like using the word manipulate because I'm not 100% convinced that Miguel is doing this with ill intentions against Miles. But what I mean is that by using the idea of canon events, he's giving their suffering a purpose and it also serves to take away the blame they feel. With the idea of canon events, it basically tells them that there was nothing they could've done and that it HAD to happen. If you go to the opposite side, you're basically saying that it was ever so slightly possible that they could've prevented something so traumatic. And, honestly, I think they have to feel a tad jealous thinking Miles could prevent it and still end up where they are; as a great Spider-Man. It's especially easy to justify letting Miles' dad die when they weren't ever face to face with Miles. I mean, look at how they changed their minds when they had to deal with Miles pushing back on Miguel's ideals. Sure, it shouldn't have been so hard to change Peter B and Gwen's minds, but it still wasn't that difficult. So, to me, it just makes sense that Miguel could convince these Spider-people that what they're doing is right and basically HAS to be done like that. But, I also can see why some people are so against the idea of how the Spider-people, especially Peter B and Gwen, acted here. But, honestly, it just serves as a reminder that these Spider-people are also just human beings in that they can be manipulated like any of us could be. Anyways, LOVED this video buddy. Keep up the great work!

So many people like to call him otherwise without thinking and understanding /both/ sides, it makes me feel frustrated. I'm very much looking forward to BTSV and hoping Miles succeeds & Miguel somehow turns up helping him in the end (complicated & traumatized characters' growth, let's go!). Don't want it to be easy, though. There are always consequences to what you did. Actually, it also would be nice for Peter B. standing up to Miguel for Miles in the next movie somehow. You'll have to wait probably more than a year. The sequel is postponed indefinitely because of the strikes. Tbh, I'm glad I never read beyond the introduction issue of Spider-man 2099 (Miguel) because it helps to not put expectations on what the character ends up being. Also I hated the introduction issue 😅 This movie is so damn gorgeous, but I couldn't in good conscience give more than a 4/5 for now, because it's putting so much down and basically giving zero resolutions. There's no indication of what the writers actually want you to think about the theme of death and loss, because this movie just packs in stuff after stuff and doesn't get to processing if it really feels we should make peace with some universal constants no matter how unfair they feel, or if they're going to pull a "no see, THIS Spider-Man doesn't have to suffer loss. All the others do though. For reasons." But also it would absolutely suck if becoming Spider-person would always mean deaths in the family. And yes I cried at the end credits.

24:36 well not cus he a miles like any other spider person could help save the guy cus well because of the multiverse thing these other spider people weren't supposed to be here so there would have been so many casualties like the father of the girl would have died but since other spider people are here there were no casualties and the father of the girl from the bus was saved my miles like others could save the guy like gwen but she knew that a canon event has to happen

Miles is objectively morally wrong in my opinion. He risks letting the universe die for a 1% chance of saving his father

Have to disagree with you…. The Into and Across The Spiderverse are the best Spider-Man movies. The comedy works better as well as the drama. And I like Into more than Across. The chase was fun, but a bit too long and overstuffed with easter eggs.

Watching you reacting, I have the feeling that GALAXY QUEST might be the greatest thing ever for you. But maybe you didn´t react to it so far because you know the movie anyway. 🙃

40:25 And I'm pretty sure it's gonna be longer then a year because of the strike in Hollywood. I liked the second one better also.

Guy in this movie seriously saying why wear a mask if got nothing to hide like it's more like you are trying to protect the people you care about, like superheroes are depended on to save people from bad guys and bad guys will do anything to take out the biggest threat to them so obviously the superhero would hide their identity like best to not draw attention to yourself

I don’t think the it’s saying Miles becomes a hero because of spider-bite I think it’s because his dad died in Earth 42 and he spends more time with Aaron.

Well look at it this way there's no Spiderman to stop the sinster six the Powler ain't a villain more like a vigilante or a theft this Miles steals so he can support his mother in this dangerous New York they live in
