Me and my friend got super lucky and scored one George T Stagg and one Thomas Handy. We took our first drinks of each this past weekend, and were blown away by both. I give the nod to GT, but TH stood up strong as tasted great. GT is by far the best whiskey I have had all year and is worth every penny I paid.

I was so lucky to snag this bottle at a local grocer's $10 a ticket raffle (a chance to pick the bottle you want to buy from a variety of Buffalo Trace offerings) benefiting a local food pantry on Thanksgiving eve. Walked away with the 2024 GTS reviewed here, an Eagle Rare 10 year, and a Weller green label. The $100 I spent on raffle tickets was a bargain as all the bottles sold for MSRP! 😎

I've been drinking whiskey for 30 years. I've tried almost everything. I just opened a bottle of Weller Antique 107. It was a Liquor Barn store pick. I gave $64 for it. It was, without a doubt, one of the best bottles I've ever had. No need to spend crazy money to drink good whiskey. If you can get a bottle of GTS at retail, by all means, pick it up. Unless you're wealthy and have money to throw away, there's no need to pay stupid high prices for whiskey. Unfortunately, it's going to be hard to find this one at retail.

I had this next to Russell 15 and preferred RR15. Didn’t get nearly the experience you all described from this pour. I wish I had. It was great but RR15 is my profile I guess

Gts was practically made for dan and sean, ive never found them to be any better than similar bottles out there. Personal taste is gonna play a big role.

I totally agree with you. RR15 blew GTS out of the water for me. This year's GTS was so tannic to me and had a funky acidic note I did not like.

This sits on the shelf here in the Space Coast for 900-1200 in all the local shops. Walmart had one this year at msrp. Had all the BTAC at msrp actually. Course i missed out😂

Guys, I'd like your thoughts on the bourbon market and the extraordinary secondary market price markups of just average bourbon. I have a 140+ bottle collection in my care. I have recently tried Pappy Van Winkle 10-Year and 12-Year. I felt the hype did not live up to the mystique of a highly sought-after bourbon. I feel like so many bottles are cheaper, MSRP, and secondary prices and are much better in terms of smell and taste; plus, most of those bottles are easier to procure and are mostly available locally without the hunt.

Bought the GTS and the WLW in the December drop 149.99 a piece . I haven't opened the GTS yet. I opened the WLW, and it's a great bottle. I think it's better than Russell's 15.

People shouldn't complain that you review allocated bottles unless most of your reviews are allocated stuff. 4-6 allocated reviews a year to keep them in the end of year blind makes it more interesting, look at Fred he put GTS at 3rd for 2024...

Seriously, last years George t stagg was pitiful. Biggest wasted of 250 I've ever spent. Yet, there are buffoons around the world that will gladly pay that much and way more for that swill. Why? Because its allocated, rare, and because its btacs. Handy by the way, drinks hot and has zero elements to garner anywhere near half the msrp. Having had it several times, I wouldn't pay 60 dollars for it. So, let me do everyone a favor who's watching this; don't waste your money on any of these highly allocated bottles. It's just whiskey. All of it comes from corn (the cheapest and most allocated food on the planet), rye, and malted barley. Oh yeah, and it comes from a barrel that has eihter been aged a few more years or perhaps a few years less. Of, and it has been watered down varying degrees or perhaps not at all. Latly, keep in mind that when btacs first came out it used to sit on the shelf for 50 dollars. And like Pappy, few were willing the pay the price. Why? Becuase it's not that good. If it were, it would have never sat on the shelf accumulating dust.

So not to be that "Um, ACKSHUALLY" kinda guy, but the biggest misconception car people have is that the W in the SAE's oil viscosity grading system doesn't actually stand for "weight", it stands for "winter". The first number before the W represents the oil's "cold weather, just starting the engine" viscosity and the second digits after the hyphen are its running temp (100 degrees C) viscosity. 2020 is still my fave. 2022 wasnt very good imo (just tasted like you lit a cough drop on fire), 2019 was good but lower proof. Havent tried the newest 2. Gts is damn good whiskey most of the time, but i wouldnt put any of the ones i had in my top 5 all time. Id max out at $160 for a bottle.
