You trained her well. Nice to know a home grown GEM will taste great…and it’s a smaller tree. Thanks!

I have a Sir Prize in a 40 gal pot going on three years now. First two years it focused on growing but this year I have a few flowers. It's not vigorous by any means but we'll see, sometimes it takes a few years for them to settle in and work their magic. Either way I'm happy with the flowers as they're a type B avocado which helps pollinate other avocados like GEM which are type A. With avocado prices these days I'm all about higher yields!
@johnnysworld-backyardorchard2 жыл бұрын
@@liarzdice That's really great to hear, hope your Sir Prize produces some great avocados for you soon! I definitely agree with the price of avocados, I get sticker shocked every time I go to the supermarket! Happy growing and thank you for watching!

I've heard they have a nutty taste which is right up my alley. Awesome to see these kinds of videos, especially GEMs. I bought two of them three years ago and I'm hoping fruit sticks this year (I bought them in plastic sleeves from Gary Gragg). They seem to want to be compact and bushy rather than vertical like my little cado which is planted next to them. From my research they're an optimal commercial variety because they're compact, have consistent yields and can hold a lot of fruit.

nice! what is better to grow (ie easier to grow) a lamb hass or a gem? thx
@johnnysworld-backyardorchard2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I think they are both great avocado trees, but my lamb hass tends to grow a bit faster than my gem, but the gem is probably in my opinion the best overall avocado tree. Thank you for your question and thank you for watching!
