Truly, they were all pretty and delicious (vegan cheese is better than ever these days!) but spoiler alert: our favorite for grilled cheese making was VIOLIFE :)

If you are not a fan of faux cheese... try veganaise, hummus, and sliced tomato grilled with earth balance. It's a game changer!

I just spread a thick layer of my favorite hummus on one slice of bread and veganaise on the other slice, I’ll add a few drops of hot sauce and a slice of tomato. Close the sandwich and grill it on a pan with earth balance until both sides are golden (a few mins on each side). It doesn’t melt and pull like cheese but the warm hummus and mayo with the toasty buttery bread really gives it a grilled cheese feel :)

Pro tip when your flip you grill cheese put a lid with a few drops of water on it and steam the grilled cheese for a few minutes it will make any vegan cheese stretchy and more grilled cheese like.

Thank you so much for this! After being sick for awhile, I discovered that I’m gluten, dairy, and yeast intolerant. My biggest struggle has been trying to find a vegan cheese made without nuts or yeast extract. I discovered Violife through you. My store didn’t have the cheese slices but the mozzarella shreds are incredible - smells like mozzarella and tastes shockingly like it, too. Thank you!

btw, daiya has a “queso” that’s like the velveeta and rotel you guys mentioned. it comes in a box of 3 packages and it tastes like the real thing! tip: mix it with your favorite taco seasoned beefless ground or just regular. it’s sooo good.

I’ve only tried follow your heart & it tasted exactly what I grew up with so I loved it! We always did kraft singles. I also grew up up eating my grilled cheese with chicken noodle soup because I hated tomato soup! So now I make a Chickpea noodle soup and I did that whole combo in a my winter what I eat in a day. I will have to try Violife though!!!

Just tried Chao creamy original in a grilled cheese and it was amazing! To me it changed the flavor of the cheese slice in a good way, and melted like a dream when cooked in a pan with a lid.

Chao is my favorite for grilled cheese! You have to try using a piece of Chao with a piece of follow your hearts pepper jack though. SO GOOD!

Same, I haven’t had one in so long and I had it yesterday! I used the violife cheddar and it was amazing, I cooked it in earth balance butter and I was so surprised that it was as good or even better than any grilled cheese I’ve ever had!

I loved this! And I love a good grilled cheese! 😉💛 I am loving Sourdough with soy free earth balance, grilled tomato slices and Follow Your Heart Provolone! SO satisfying and gooey! It’s my quick go to (especially cut up into bites for my LO 👶🏻♥️) The Daiya surprised me! It made me want to try using it again! Best wishes X 💛

I swear, Daiya has come a long way! I used to have an aversion, but I find that their new formula is really good. I love the cheese sticks, shreds, and I haven't tried the one in the challenge, but now I will keep an eye out!

Nice! I enjoyed it! But just so you know, it's pronounced "Day-ah" not "Die-ya". From their website....We pronounce Daiya as “day-ah.” As in “Have a nice Daiya!” The name came from a play on the words ‘dairy’ and “Dayaa,” which is Sanskrit for “loving, kindness and compassion.”

Daiya has really stepped up their game. I didn't really like them before except for hiding the cheese in burritos but now I do. Their cheddar now has that familiar cheddar taste that I remember and their shreds aren't as greasy, soft or sticky. I recently had the mozz with tacos and it was so good! I even had it in its own and it was good. I couldn't do that before.

In addition to the excellent hummus idea, I also love a grilled avocado sando! With vegan mayo and tomato is particularly yummy :) Now I have to try Violife. I'm afraid of trying a lot of vegan cheese. I was burned too many times when I first tried going vegan 8-9 years ago.

It is good to know that Daiya has changed for the better. I tried it years ago in my quest for a non-dairy cheese due to a casein intolerance (I'm an omni) and that bitterness was horrific. I might give it another go!

Chao is my favourite still! And I've tried quite a few main and local brands here in Canada. 😊 The Miyokos is my favourite cream cheese so far! Soo good! Definitely a huge improvement on vegan cheeses over the years. Especially Daiya that I remember used to taste like plastic 3 years ago! Lol I'm still hesitant to buy it again because of that. 😊

I've only tried the follow your heart smoked gouda, and original slices. I love grilled cheese with the original slices, and i add some vegan pesto and sundried tomatoes to it, yum!! I didn't like the smoked gouda, it just tasted like liquid smoke to me. This was fun, i'll be on the lookout to try violife now!

The daiya cheddar slices are an excellent replacement for kraft singles which is what I used for grilled cheese growing up, so those are my go-to for grilled cheeses for the nostalgia. For other sandwiches though I like the Chao original. My usual store only has those 2 brands though

The violife is definitely my new favorite vegan cheese. We have the smoked provolone sliced that make amazing grilled cheese and the feta is in a chunk and tastes soooo creamy! If you don't crumble it and slice instead you can make anything cheesy with it.. ( it tastes more like cream cheese to me but is amazing on salads)

So Delicious Shreds are pretty decent. I actually used a small amount of them on a pizza last night along with some tiny dollops of Myokos Smoked cheese and both my non vegan son and husband tried it and loved it. Loved this video! I do not like that nut cheese at all. Oh! Another tip which is going to sound really weird, but no matter what cheese you are using for a grilled cheese, if you sprinkle the cheese with nutritional yeast it will taste even cheesier.

The only brand of vegan cheese I have tired are Daiya, Chao, and Tofutti. I just bought at Walmart the Follow Your Heart shredded cheddar cheese and the American slices. They were both less than $4 each and that's the cheapest I have seen vegan cheese besides the Tofutti brand that I wasn't really a fan of. I can't wait to try this brand out.
