I work with cancer patients & data and the projection for cancer is 1 in 2 men will get cancer in their lifetime and 1 in 3 women. Oh and a large percentage of patients are B12 and vitamin D deficient and these are lifelong meat eaters. Finally starting to see some doctors recommend plant based diets and seeing some patients tell their doctors they are switching to plant based eating. So it is happening, even in the medical field....finally. Great video!❤️

Factory farming purposefully degraded the quality (nutrients) of the meat they sell. In a capitalist system factory farmers concerned obsessively with profit would utilize FREE resources to improve quality and thus sell more than competitors. But they don’t utilize the free resource (sun for example) that to me says it’s about something else and not the profit. Also meat is frozen then thawed and sold as fresh at store. This further removes any Beneficial nutrients-as they breakdown over time. Fresh killed flesh is rich in vitamin c. As a meat eater I noticed a huge change in health when switching to pasture raised animals who had exposure to nutrients they should have and fresh.

8 years ago when I went vegan living in Istanbul and was on a business trip in the States, I was like 'wow, being vegan here would be sooo easy, they had Daiya cheese, vegan burgers, hotdogs, cafes, affordable plant-based milks etc'. It was not that big of a challenge for me as the Turkish cuisine is already very vegan-friendly, but of course, it would've been easier with ready-to-buy stuff. I learned to love to cook, so that was a huge plus (most vegans will probably agree). But the progress in 8 years .... going strong, always and forever vegan.

I loved this video! I've been vegan for four years now and am having some major stomach/health issues. It can be really hard to stay vegan when I already can't eat soy, cashews, flax, chia, any protein powder, tomatoes, chocolate, and coconut. People around me keep telling me to eat eggs and fish just to add variety to my diet, but they don't understand veganism is more than just what I eat. Honestly, I don't know how long I'll be able to stay vegan -- if my health issues don't turn around it may become medically necessary to add more calories that I'm not allergic to back into my diet (I'm working with a gastroenterologist and veg-friendly dietitian), but I have the intention of living this way as long as I healthily can-- even though it's not fun/enjoyable (and often painful) when I can't eat so many things. I hope one day my health returns and I can live this way pain free.

In the 60's I had lots of SDA friends, but it wasn't until '76 that we became fully plant based. Our son who is an adult has been plant based since '76 when he was a little kid. Post cereal was begun by a SDA American medical doctor, nutritionist, whose friend then began Kellogg's, also based on SDA health beliefs. Morgan Feltmeier hi there! I think in a way they did address this several times in the video without naming specific people. They talked about how insufficient juice and water fasts are (which rawvana was so criticized for), and that the key for a long term vegan lifestyle is to 1) make sure you’re doing it for ethical reasons and 2) eat a balanced diet, replacing what you used to eat with vegan options so you’re never depriving yourself. I hope this helps!

I just had my 3 year anniversary of being Vegan and I feel great. I will say that I've gone through several periods of time of feeling bloated and having to figure that out. Actually, I think it was something that was said on this show that made sense which was that it's better to have a smoothie or have your fruit first as opposed to having it after you have a sandwich or tofu scramble or whatever you're eating. That has really helped me. My only wish at this point is to make more vegan friends. You would think living in LA I would have more, but all my girlfriends are still obsessed with stinky/fancy cheeses and feel sorry for me that I can't eat them. Little do they know, I feel sorry for them but I don't say it because it just goes to a weird place.

The thing I’m scared of is waking up one day and deciding I want animal products again, even though my ethics are in the right place. I appreciate your discussion of eating disorders and veganism! I sometimes feel a lot of pressure from vegans to adopt that lifestyle, but I’m at a place in my life where if I decide certain foods are off limits, it will likely spiral to the point of thinking all foods are off limits, and therefore not eating at all. Due to mental illness, veganism is not a healthy lifestyle for me, and I appreciate others going vegan because I can’t!

Loved this Video 🙏💚and so glad u guys talked about ehtical side of veganism and the horrendous cruelty we inflict upon innocent ,sentient beings whu have a pain tolerance 10 times lower than humans.
@emsilverman25 жыл бұрын
k dark I’ve often wondered about animal pain tolerance. We (humans) have larger prefrontal cortex’s than most other animals, allowing us to plan and project ourselves into other scenarios. If you read accounts of people who have been traumatized, they often relied heavily on the functions of their prefrontal cortex to make it through. The animals we torture and kill don’t even have the luxury of imagining they’re somewhere else.

k dark can you tell me where you got your information on animal pain tolerance?

I’ve been vegan for 2 years and lately after recovering from a surgery 6 weeks ago, I am extremely tired and pale and just feeling so dragged down. I don’t know what could be going wrong with me. I try soooooo hard to be healthy. Everywhere I look ppl say iron deficiency and to have fish or egg.
@clarissahinshaw60375 жыл бұрын
Lindsey Ventura If it’s iron deficiency, then lots of plants have iron. I would get a blood test though to see if that’s really the case.
@timothys92885 жыл бұрын
There are iron supplements. Did you talk to your doctor? Any post-surgical issues have to be reported to your doctor ASAP. Get blood tests before changing diet/supplements. After the blood testing, let your doctor know that you are Vegan and that you want assistance staying with your ethics and getting the nutrition you need. Have your blood tested for deficiencies. Chances are that you don't likely have any nutritional deficiency. If you do, there are supplements and certain foods you can focus on. If you aren't deficient and just want more energy, again there are dynamite supplements like nicotinamide riboside + resveratrol or you can go a step further and add PQQ + CoQ10. Resveratrol is an anti-aging molecule and the others I named are pro-mitochondria molecules. I'm 46 years old and the nicotinamide riboside + resveratrol is exceptional. If you're under 25 years old, just do that nicotinamide riboside without resveratrol because young people don't need anti-aging molecules yet. You can also try CoQ10 + PQQ if you're under 25 to try and get your mitochondria firing along with the nicotinamide riboside. These even can help relieve some depression. Also, coffee/caffeine can help relieve depression too if used in a single beverage sparingly. The supplements I referenced are not for making up any dietary deficiencies or to try to get around a bad diet. These supplements are for people who are already testing as 'healthy' on blood work and when a doctor is telling you there is nothing wrong, you're healthy, go live life. Then these supplements can help give a boost.

Lol I've been vegan 6 years. I just moved to this small town of 1600 people and they literally only have one grocery store here. Guess what? They have Impossible meat! They also sell Litelife hot dogs, and much much more.. so awesome.

I've been vegan for 44 years, strictly, in all ways - well beyond diet. I'm fine. But I know what to eat/supplement. I'm 65. I went vegan at age 21. I've done my homework. I have no diseases, and take no meds. Plenty of energy.

Does anyone know how to transition into veganism without losing any of your favorite foods? I feel really restricted with it because I haven't found a vegan cheese that I like yet, and there's other foods I feel like I'm losing especially specialty foods that aren't vegan that I won't be able to have just because I'm a full time student and can't cook but also because where I live there's basically no vegan restaurants, bakeries, or even specialty shops except for whole foods a little bit. I live on the east coast so it's the opposite of LA, there's very little vegan selection here.

I am an athlete and I am pretty much vegan except for eating eggs. I find it hard to fulfill my energy needs when I have gone totally vegan. Can you do a video about vegan athletes?
@tofulover6725 жыл бұрын
I actually started eating plant based due to orthorexic tendencies but once I made the connection to being vegan ethically I felt food freedom bc I knew even if I ate something unhealthy there was no reason to feel guilty bc no one had to be killed or tortured for me to have a donut🥰

How many vegans do you meet? I’ve only met two vegans and one of them ate chocolate chip cookie that was made with butter and eggs right in front of me. There aren’t a lot of vegans where I live. Lol

gary pack idk about that. I live in a predominantly white city and an even whiter neighborhood. There were 6 black kids in my high school of 1,800 students.

I agree with what you guys said about vegan cheese, it has truly come such a long way. My favourite 2 vegan cheese brands that I find in South Africa are Violife and Nature&Moi. Violife mozzarella melts perfectly on pizza, and Nature&Moi is great for mac 'n cheese!
